Things are starting to get a lot more interesting in the House probe regarding Joe Biden’s mental decline.
I did not expect much from the proceedings thus far, as I knew that Biden officials would try to hide behind privilege, but that was just removed.
All former members have been advised, and at least one of them is running for cover.
No privilege
The Trump administration sent out letters earlier informing all former officials that, in regard to planned testimony, executive privilege may not be used.
Deputy counsel to the president, Gary Lawkowski, had the pleasure of informing the former Biden staffers.
He wrote, “In light of the unique and extraordinary nature of the matters under investigation, President Trump has determined that an assertion of executive privilege is not in the national interest, and therefore is not justified, with respect to particular subjects within the purview of the House Oversight Committee.”
Lawkowski added, “Those subjects include your assessment of former President Biden’s fitness for the office of the President and your knowledge of who exercised executive powers during his administration.”
Before anyone on the left has a meltdown, let’s not forget that Democrats have already used this card to beat up on Trump staffers.
They also tried to have the privilege removed from Trump himself. So, I am not going to shed any tears for Dems crying foul on this one. I stated many times, whatever liberals did would come back to haunt them, and it surely is now.
Neera Tanden, one of the more controversial Biden officials, has already testified, but Anthony Bernal, Jill Biden’s top White House adviser, is refusing to comply.
Tanden testified that she had been authorized to use the autopen, but she maintained that there was nothing nefarious going on.
One source told Fox News, “To obtain approval for autopen signatures, she would send decision memos to members of the president’s inner circle.”
The source added, “She stated that she was not aware of what actions or approvals occurred between the time she sent the memo and the time she received it back with approval.”
We have never pushed back against the idea of staffers being authorized to use the autopen, but it is a matter of whether Biden knew what was being signed under his name.
I firmly believe a shot caller inside the administration was possibly giving these liberties without Biden’s knowledge, and that is treasonous.
With privilege now revoked, the fact that Bernal does not want to speak to the committee is setting off some major red flags for me.
The situation is definitely something we will continue to monitor.
