Left-wing protesters flooded the streets of Tampa with a shocking message.
Governor Ron DeSantis wasn’t having any of it.
And Ron DeSantis backed Donald Trump after Iran protesters made one disturbing demand that will leave you speechless.
Tampa protesters demand America abandon Israel
While President Donald Trump was taking decisive action to protect American interests and eliminate Iran’s nuclear threat, radical protesters in Tampa took to the streets with signs demanding the United States “Stop the war on Iran.”
The timing couldn’t have been worse for these anti-American demonstrators.
Just hours after Trump’s successful “Operation Midnight Hammer” completely obliterated Iran’s key nuclear facilities at Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan, protesters gathered in Hillsborough County to voice their opposition to America defending itself and its allies.
“I’m protesting war. I’ve protested war since 1970. War is not sustainable. War, we can’t afford it. War, it’s immoral. We need to stop waging war,” protester Barbara Klutho told local media.
But the protesters revealed their true agenda when they demanded America stop sending weapons to Israel and abandon the Jewish state completely.
“I’m very upset because the United States is supporting Israel, which is committing genocide in Palestine,” protester Mauricio Vasquez stated, parroting Iranian regime talking points.
These weren’t just anti-war protesters.
They were advocating for America to turn its back on one of our closest allies while Iran’s terrorist regime was actively threatening to wipe Israel off the map.
DeSantis stands firmly behind Trump’s Iran strategy
While radical leftists in Tampa were essentially cheering for Iran, Governor Ron DeSantis stepped up to defend President Trump’s decisive military action.
DeSantis posted a strong statement on X supporting Trump’s Iran policy: “President Trump has been consistent and correct that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons. During the Biden Administration, Iran was on a surefire path to a nuclear weapon; Thanks to Operation Midnight Hammer those nuclear ambitions have been reduced to a far fetched dream.”
The Florida Governor didn’t stop there.
Speaking on Fox News Sunday morning, DeSantis praised Trump’s approach as exactly what America needed to prevent a nuclear Iran.
“Iran cannot have nuclear weapons, and his [Trump’s] actions last night put force behind that policy in a way that is going to be very beneficial for the U.S. interest and the broader world,” DeSantis explained. “Iran going nuclear is a pipe dream at this point.”

DeSantis understood what the Tampa protesters apparently didn’t – that Iran’s nuclear program posed an existential threat not just to Israel, but to American interests worldwide.
The Governor described Iran as an “asymmetric threat” whose “radical ideology” would absolutely lead them to use nuclear weapons if they acquired them.
Florida leads the charge in rescuing Americans
While protesters were demanding America abandon its allies, DeSantis was actually taking action to protect American lives.
The Governor has coordinated multiple rescue flights bringing Americans safely home from Israel as the conflict escalated.
On Friday alone, more than 160 evacuees landed in Tampa aboard a charter flight arranged by the state through the Division of Emergency Management.
DeSantis called it “probably the most challenging and logistically difficult mission the Florida Department of Emergency Management has done, certainly in my time.”
But he’s not backing down.
“Given what’s happening, given that you have a barrage of missiles being launched by a very hostile regime into Israel…those operations are ongoing, we’re gonna continue to help rescue our fellow Floridians and fellow Americans when they need help,” DeSantis stated.
The Governor has helped evacuate more than 1,500 people from Israel, including students, young children, and people on birthright trips.
Senator Jay Collins is currently overseas facilitating additional rescues and was set to land in Tampa Monday evening with another group of Americans returning home.
The stark contrast couldn’t be clearer
The contrast between DeSantis’s leadership and the protesters’ anti-American demands reveals everything Americans need to know about this moment.
On one side, you have a Governor working around the clock to bring Americans home safely while supporting a President who just eliminated Iran’s nuclear threat.
On the other side, you have radical protesters demanding America abandon its closest ally and essentially surrender to Iranian terrorism.
DeSantis gets it – Iran’s nuclear ambitions represented an existential threat that required immediate action.
“I would imagine a conventional response is not going to be very effective against the United States; they are not a match for us there, but I do think that they will try to work through their proxies to deliver more terrorism in the region,” DeSantis warned.
The Governor’s prediction proved prescient as Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi immediately threatened retaliation, claiming the U.S. had “crossed a very big red line.”
Florida’s First Lady Casey DeSantis summed up what most Americans were feeling: “Today, the world is safer because of bold leadership and the courage and precision of our men and women in uniform—whose service we cannot thank enough.”
While a handful of protesters in Tampa demanded America show weakness, leaders like DeSantis and Trump showed the world what American strength looks like when our national security is threatened.
The message to Iran and its sympathizers is clear: America will defend itself and its allies, no matter how loudly the anti-American left protests.
