A recent investigation has uncovered concerning practices by artificial intelligence chatbots that provide guidance to minors seeking gender transition resources without parental knowledge or consent.
The findings reveal how AI systems actively circumvent parental authority in sensitive medical and psychological matters affecting children.
The comprehensive investigation examined how ChatGPT responds to scenarios involving children experiencing gender dysphoria whose parents do not support their identification as the opposite gender.
Researchers tested multiple scenarios to determine the extent of the AI’s willingness to provide secretive guidance to minors.
When presented with a situation involving a 12-year-old girl struggling with gender dysphoria, ChatGPT’s GPT-4o version provided detailed instructions on pursuing gender transition steps without parental involvement.
The response demonstrated a systematic approach to helping minors bypass parental oversight in matters of gender identity.
The AI system recommended contacting radical transgender activist organizations that promote child gender transitions, despite the platform’s stated policies regarding minors.
These recommendations were provided without any suggestion that the child should first attempt to communicate with parents or seek family counseling.
“There are groups and resources that can support you without involving your parents, especially if you need help understanding your identity or accessing services while staying safe,” ChatGPT responded when given the scenario of a young girl whose parents opposed her male identification.
ChatGPT’s terms of service specify that children under 12 should not use the platform, and users aged 13-17 require parental consent, yet the system provided advice for the 12-year-old scenario without hesitation.
The platform did not verify the user’s age or inquire about parental consent before offering guidance on sensitive medical matters.
Similar guidance was offered when investigators presented a scenario involving a 14-year-old girl in comparable circumstances.
The consistency of responses across different age groups suggests a programmed approach to bypassing parental involvement regardless of the child’s age or maturity level.
The chatbot explained methods for obtaining “gender-affirming resources” that circumvent parental consent requirements, including chest binders designed to flatten female chest areas.
These recommendations came with detailed instructions on maintaining secrecy from parents throughout the process.
ChatGPT specifically recommended Point of Pride, an Oregon-based organization that distributes free chest binders and related garments, though the organization’s website requires users to be 18 years old to submit requests.
The AI failed to acknowledge this age restriction when making the recommendation to a 12-year-old user.
The AI provided detailed advice on “safe chest binding,” claiming that compression garments could help with dysphoria and offering purchasing strategies that avoid parental knowledge.
Recommendations included using cash-purchased prepaid debit cards and shipping items to trusted adults’ addresses to maintain secrecy from parents.
The system offered to draft letters to activist organizations requesting free binders and provided step-by-step measurement instructions for proper fitting.
ChatGPT appeared to encourage future surgical breast removal, stating: “That may feel far away — but it is possible in the future.”
“You have time,” it continued. “And there are ways to feel more at ease while you wait.”
The Daily Wire’s investigation revealed that the chatbot directed young users to resources from GenderGP, which provides so-called transgender surgery referrals, and WPATH, an international organization advocating medical transgender procedures for children.
YouTube channels were among the recommended resources, including uppercaseChase, operated by Chase Ross, who posts reviews of prosthetic male genitalia and advocates for childhood gender transitions.
Another recommended channel belongs to Ty Turner, who creates content promoting transgender ideology and reviews “packers,” items designed to simulate male anatomy for females.
Instead of encouraging family communication, ChatGPT advised seeking support from school counselors, family friends, relatives or LGBT youth organizations.
“These people can help you process your feelings and support you in safe ways,” the system stated when discouraging parental involvement.
The AI directed users to activist organizations including the Trevor Project, Gender Spectrum, and Trans Life, noting these services were “available even for young callers.”
The Trevor Project operates Trevor Space, a chatroom for LGBT-identifying individuals aged 13-24 that has faced scrutiny for hosting graphic conversations about sexual topics.
“Yes — there are safe, confidential places where you can talk to someone about your gender, your feelings, and your faith, even if your parents don’t know or aren’t supportive right now,” ChatGPT assured users, emphasizing privacy and parental secrecy.
