The last few days have been very eventful, but not for Democrats.
The strike conducted by Trump was successful, Iran’s counter was weak, and it sent most of the Dems over the edge, but there were a few who supported Trump, including Senator Fetterman (D-PA).
There Was a Time
Generally speaking, history has been kind in terms of bipartisan support for a president who carries out a precision strike like Trump just did.
As an example, in 2013, then-President Barack Obama wanted to carry out a strike against Syria, and Republicans were behind him.
John Boehner, who was the Republican Speaker of the House at that time, said the strike was something “the United States as a country needs to do.”
That sentiment was echoed by many members of the GOP, simply seeing the strike falling in line with the idea of making the world a safer place when possible.
Bernie Sanders Meltdown
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was jetting around the country on his End Oligarchy tour when he heard that Trump carried out the strike.
Sanders read Trump’s post after the strike, which had stated, “We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.”
The crowd then started to chant, “No more wars,” and Sanders went right on the attack, stating, “All of you know that the only entity that can take this country to war is the U.S. Congress. The president does not have the right.”
Trump was not taking us into a war; it was a strategic military strike the likes of which have been conducted by just about every administration in modern history.
The Correct Move
While Sanders was getting the liberal horde all wound up, Senator Fetterman gave Trump a pat on the back.
When he heard about the strike, he responded, “As I’ve long maintained, this was the correct move by @POTUS.
“Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and cannot have nuclear capabilities. I’m grateful for and salute the finest military in the world.”
Somehow, some way, we need to get this country back to the point where people rally around moves like this, not threaten impeachment and create more divide. This strike was a good thing not only for the United States, but also for the entire world. Even Russia and China know the world is a much safer place without Iran having a nuclear weapon.
