IRVINE, CA – A disturbing case has emerged in Irvine, where a local dog trainer and his girlfriend face serious allegations after the deaths of 10 dogs in their care. Authorities have arrested the trainer from Happy Canine Academy and his partner, leaving pet owners devastated and seeking answers.
The case began to unfold when Chris Davis and Steve Kahn, pet parents to a two-and-a-half-year-old shepherd-pit bull mix named Luna, received shocking news. After returning from a trip, they texted the trainer, expecting Luna to be brought home as usual. Instead, they were told Luna had died in her sleep and had been cremated.
Davis and Kahn, who had trusted the trainer for his humane methods, were shattered. They had previously been impressed with his approach, which favored treat-based training over harsher methods. The trainer, known as Tony, seemed reputable and reliable.
However, the situation turned grim when another pet owner reported a similar incident. Irvine police, suspecting foul play, launched an investigation. Officers and animal service personnel quickly discovered that multiple dogs had died under Tony’s care.
During the investigation, authorities found the remains of at least 10 dogs linked to Tony. Contrary to his claims, Luna had not been cremated, allowing for a necropsy to be conducted. This discovery raised further suspicions about the circumstances of the deaths.
The investigation revealed that Tony Sit, 53, along with his girlfriend, 23-year-old Ting Fang Liu, had been operating under various business names throughout Southern California. Both have been charged with animal cruelty and destruction of evidence.
Detectives continue to seek more potential victims, urging anyone with information to come forward. The case has left many questioning how someone entrusted with the care of animals could betray that trust so profoundly.
For the grieving pet owners, the loss is immeasurable. While Davis and Kahn hope to rescue another dog in the future, the heartbreak remains fresh. They, like many others, are left wondering about the motives behind this tragic series of events.
