A rising social media influencer from Georgia was found dead just hours after posting a haunting message online, and her husband later took his own life following a police chase.
The disturbing series of events began Saturday night, June 14, in Twin City, Georgia, when authorities responded to a domestic disturbance call around 9:30 p.m., according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
At the scene, officers discovered 27-year-old Zaria Khadejah Carr unconscious. She was later pronounced dead.
Her husband, 36-year-old Shamarcus Jameal Carr, was not at the residence, and Zaria’s vehicle was missing. An alert was issued for the car, which was later located around 11 p.m. by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, Shamarcus fatally shot himself before authorities could make contact. He later died from his injuries.
A source close to the couple confirmed to PEOPLE that Shamarcus was known online as “The Frenchman,” a popular French bulldog breeder with more than 44,000 followers on Facebook. His page frequently featured photos with Zaria, who used the name “Dutchess Dior” online.
Just hours before her death, Zaria—under her Dutchess Dior persona—posted a chilling message on Facebook around 6 p.m. that now appears to be a desperate cry for help.
“I really don’t know what to do,” she wrote. “.. but I need help before I lose my life or freedom! My kids need me!”
Investigators have not yet confirmed the cause of Zaria’s death or released details about her injuries. The GBI said they are aware of the Facebook pages but did not officially link the accounts to the couple.
Shamarcus’ death is being investigated by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. As of now, authorities are calling it an open and ongoing investigation and have not released additional information.
