The possibility of striking Iran has generated a rather interesting response on social media among diehard Trump supporters.
Ultimately, MAGA stalwarts always fall in line with whatever Trump decides, but there is some resistance to possible direct involvement in the war between Israel and Iran.
Trump was recently asked about the possible fallout, but he insists that the MAGA movement loves him more than ever right now.
They love me
One of the core beliefs of MAGA is to not get involved in foreign wars, but the United States clearly cannot let Israel fall, especially to a terrorist nation like Iran.
With there now being open pushback against the idea of striking Iran directly, Trump addressed the possible consequences among MAGA supporters.
He stated, “My supporters are more in love with me today, and I’m more in love with them, more than they even were at election time.”
The presdent went on, “I may have some people that are a little bit unhappy now, but I have some people that are very happy, and I have people outside of the base that can’t believe that this is happening. They’re so happy.”
Thus far, Trump has been on the fence about striking Iran, recently stating, “I may do it, I may not do it. I mean, nobody knows what I’m going to do. I can tell you this, that Iran’s got a lot of trouble.”
Reports came out today that Trump is likely to make a decision on the matter over the next two weeks, so there does not appear to be any real urgency.
After all, it is not as if Iran is going to have a nuke ready to go tomorrow. The country still has many hurdles before it can produce a nuclear weapon, but the key to all of this is that the country does have the capability to produce one, which is what Israel is hoping to stop.
I have stated before, I would back the United States striking, but I have been adamant that it must be the last option available before we do so.
I would prefer for Israel to do the dirty work, or, possibly, come to a diplomatic solution, but then there is the question of Iran being trusted to hold up its end of any eventual bargain.
If history tells us anything about Iran, it is that its leadership cannot be trusted to respect any agreement, just as we saw when it came to Barack Obama’s nuclear deal.
