Kate Middleton has created a bit of a stir over the cancellation of a planned public appearance.
According to the report, Princess Kate pulled out of an appearance at Ascot over health concerns.
She has recently been battling cancer, and while she had returned to a relatively normal schedule of enagements, it does appear that she is now dialing things back again to ensure her personal health.
Taking care of number one
Kate reportedly pulled out of an appearance at the Ascot annual horse race, which she was scheduled to attend with Prince William.
While royal watchers were disappointed to hear the news, it is now being reported that we may expect to see more cancellations from Kate, as she is prioritizing her health over such appearances.
Royals expert Hilary Fordwich reported, “She has been forthright regarding her still experiencing ‘good days and bad days,’ as she once said.”
Fordwich added, “She is hoping the public will be patient since she is ‘not out of the woods quite yet.’ She has acknowledged having to be sensible, listening to what her body is telling her as she eases back to public life.”
The commentator continued, “We should expect her to maintain a lighter schedule of engagements than previously for the foreseeable future. Her decisions, as always, will be responsible and dignified.”
Kate, who will likely have a Queen’s crown on her head fairly soon, is breaking the mold cast by those who have gone before her in the role.
Queen Elizabeth refused to give up the crown, even during the waning days of her rule, and King Charles has had his health challenges, but he continues to push forward, sometimes against advice.
Charles waited forever to ascend to the throne, so I believe he wants to make the most of his time, even though he is still battling cancer himself.
Kate is reported to be cancer-free, but she still has good days and bad while pushing through her recovery.
Honestly, I don’t fault her one bit for stepping back, having recovered from several major operations myself. I can attest that rest should be prioritized over all else right now.
As far as what the future holds for Kate, Fordwich expects her to attend Wimbledon, one of her favorite annual events.
Fordwich explained, “Princess Catherine is making steady progress in her recovery.”
She went on, “This announcement is confirmation that she’ll remain cautious, flexible and measured with her health taking precedence. We should expect similar last-minute adjustments since navigating such challenging health issues isn’t easy.”
Fordwich condluded, “I believe she might well attend Wimbledon, which she so loves.”
