Let’s be honest, it’s been a wild 2025. Many Americans breathe easy knowing Donald Trump is back at the helm. But the world isn’t making his second term easy, at all. He inherited a mess from Sleeping Joe Biden. But Trump doesn’t have the luxury to take his time and fix the economy. A lot has to be done–in a short time. And he has to juggle domestic issues with exploding conflicts overseas.
Trump has made it clear, for a long time, that he is dedicated to peace. He has been the only president in decades who did not plunge us into new conflicts. In fact, he worked to end fighting during his first term. But the world didn’t get the memo that peace is the answer. Over the last few years, Israel has been fighting a proxy war with Iran. Well, the proxy part has ended as Israel and Iran traded missiles this past week. Many fear that Trump will drag the U.S. into a conflict with Iran.
The media has not helped. It is spreading endless claims about what Trump is going to do. For the record, Trump has stressed that he wants fighting to end and to make a deal with Iran and Israel. He’s even said that in defiance of Israel, a close ally and friend. Not to let the media run away with the narrative, Vice President Vance took to social media to clear the air.
From X:
First, POTUS has been amazingly consistent, over 10 years, that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Over the last few months, he encouraged his foreign policy team to reach a deal with the Iranians to accomplish this goal…
Meanwhile, the president has shown remarkable restraint in keeping our military’s focus on protecting our troops and protecting our citizens.
He may decide he needs to take further action to end Iranian enrichment. That decision ultimately belongs to the president. And of course, people are right to be worried about foreign entanglement after the last 25 years of idiotic foreign policy.
In a lengthy post to X, Vice President Vance laid out Trump’s plans for handling Iran. Trump has always been clear that the rogue nation cannot have a nuclear weapon. He has stressed non-military means of accomplishing that, through sanctions and a possible agreement.
Vance explained that despite previous deals and agreements, Iran keeps violating the terms. They have furiously been enriching uranium beyond what is needed for “civilian nuclear power.” Apparently, you don’t need the same level of nuclear power to build an electricity plant, than you need for a bomb. Makes sense, right?
Vance stressed that Trump has shown restrain, even as Iran violates agreements and makes threats against America, Israel, and other allies. Trump’s focus has always been the safety of our troops and citizens. That should ease many people’s fears that we are not about to be dragged into a major war in the Middle East.
That being said, Vance explained Trump could make further decisions to ensure Iran ceases to be a threat. What could those actions be? That is unknown for now. Vance ended his post by saying Trump has “earned some trust on this issue.” Unlike previous presidents who had no trouble sending our sons and daughters to war, Trump is showing wisdom, seeking the best solution.
That should help Americans rest easy.
