Not a single illegal migrant was released into the United States last month, according to new Border Patrol data. That marks a dramatic turnaround from the 62,000 released under the Biden administration during the same month last year.
“It’s phenomenal,” U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks told Fox News on Wednesday.
“Anybody that cares about national security knows that, under the last administration, we were breaking record numbers… Now we’re breaking records in the right direction,” Banks said.
He emphasized that the agency is seeing real progress. “We are closer to operational security of the border than we’ve ever had,” he told Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt.
Banks said just two days ago, Border Patrol apprehended 141 illegal entries at the southwest border — and none were released.
He credited President Donald Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem for providing leadership and the tools needed to secure the nation. “We’ve said all along that we know how to secure the border. We just need leadership,” he said.
“With President Trump and Secretary Noem, we are proving exactly what we’ve been saying for years: Let us enforce the laws, and we’ll get the job done,” he continued.
Banks ended with a message for the American people: “We’re just getting started. We’re not even close to being done.”
