President Donald Trump pulled no punches after the French president claimed to know the reason behind his early G7 Summit departure: “Emmanuel always gets it wrong.”
After arriving in Canada late Sunday to join fellow world leaders for an annual meeting, the commander-in-chief made an early departure late Monday as the situation in the Middle East progressed. While the United States moved into a defensive posture to ensure the safety of U.S. service members in the region, French President Emmanuel Macron was slammed for “publicity seeking” after claiming Trump was leaving to broker a ceasefire.
“He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!” wrote the president on Truth Social after stating, “Publicity seeking President Emmanuel Macron of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a ‘cease fire’ between Israel and Iran. Wrong!”
ABC News detailed that Macron had told reporters Monday, “The president spoke a few minutes ago to say that there were ongoing discussions, which is a good thing. And so if the United States of America can achieve a ceasefire, it is a very good thing, and France will support it, and we wish for it.”
“It is absolutely essential that all strikes from both sides against energy, administrative and cultural infrastructures, and even more so against the civilian population, cease. Nothing justifies this, and they are absolutely intolerable,” he went on. “And then, as soon as the ceasefire is achieved — and I think the announcements made by President Trump are very positive and the role that the United States of America will have to play is key — the French alongside them, the British and the Germans are available to resume serious discussions, discussions that we have never stopped.”
Macron claimed an offer had been made, “Especially to have a ceasefire and to initiate broader discussions.”
That claim was also smacked down by Trump, who posted early Tuesday morning, “I have not reached out to Iran for ‘Peace Talks’ in any way, shape, or form. This is just more HIGHLY FABRICATED, FAKE NEWS! If they want to talk, they know how to reach me. They should have taken the deal that was on the table — Would have saved a lot of lives!!!”
Additionally, as Israel’s Operation Rising Lion continued strikes against the Islamist regime and any potential effort to develop nuclear weapons, the president made clear Monday evening, “Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”
When asked aboard Air Force One on the way back to Washington, D.C., in the middle of the night, what is better than a ceasefire, Trump responded by stating, “An end. A real end, not a ceasefire. An end. Or giving up entirely. That’s okay too.”
The president was expected to spend Tuesday morning in the White House Situation Room meeting with the National Security Council.
