It would appear that with tensions rising over Trump’s immigration plan, he is about to make a big move to ban arrivals from roughly three dozen more countries.
If the recently implemented restrictions are indeed expanded, individuals from every country named would no longer be able to travel to the United States until that ban is lifted.
To be clear, the details of the possible expansion have not yet been announced, but the Washington Post reported that it had intercepted an internal State Department cable on the subject.
Stay out
The cable reportedly stated, “The Department has identified 36 countries of concern that might be recommended for full or partial suspension of entry if they do not meet established benchmarks and requirements within 60 days.”
There are a variety of reasons why these countries are being added, including not working with the administration to accept illegal immigrants that the United States wanted to ship back.
In addition to that, there is the obvious, such as known terrorist activity in the country, as well as antisemitic behavior.
A State Department official made it clear that not all circumstances were relevant to all countries named.
The official stated, “We are constantly reevaluating policies to ensure the safety of Americans and that foreign nationals follow our laws.”
The same source continued, “The Department of State is committed to protecting our nation and its citizens by upholding the highest standards of national security and public safety through our visa process.”
The additional suggested countries to add to the ban are reported as being: Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Dominica, Ethiopia, Egypt, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, South Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Tonga, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
They would be added to the existing list that includes Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.
There is also a partial restriction in place for citizens of Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.
Get the safe spaces ready because there will undoubtedly be a meltdown from the left and Democrats as soon as this is put in place, with Democrats tossing the full lot of “ist,” “ic,” and “ism” words at Trump.
