Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) rushed to defend Tucker Carlson after President Donald Trump called the former Fox News host “kooky” and mocked his independent media venture during a heated exchange over Iran policy.
The Georgia congresswoman, known as one of Trump’s most loyal allies in Congress, publicly sided with Carlson following Trump’s social media attack Monday night.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that someone should explain to “kooky Tucker Carlson” that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.
Greene described Carlson as “one of my favorite people” who “fiercely loves his wife, children, and our country.”
The conservative firebrand noted that Carlson has gained more popularity and viewers since Fox News fired him.
The congresswoman stated her beliefs align “unapologetically” with Carlson’s positions.
She emphasized that Americans must fight for their own country and people to preserve the nation for future generations.
Greene warned that involvement in a Middle Eastern war would “put America last, kill innocent people, are making us broke, and will ultimately lead to our destruction.”
She concluded her defense by referencing Trump’s new nickname for the broadcaster.
The Georgia representative insisted Carlson’s position represents what millions of Americans voted for and embodies true America First principles.
She directly challenged Trump’s characterization, stating such views are not “kooky.”
The public dispute began after Trump criticized Carlson during a press conference at the G7 summit in Calgary, standing alongside UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The president dismissed the former television host’s independent media status, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Trump suggested Carlson should obtain a television network if he wants people to listen to his commentary.
The former Fox News host was terminated from the network in April 2023 before launching his independent platform.
Carlson had appeared on Steve Bannon’s War Room show to discuss Iran and America’s role in Middle Eastern conflicts.
Despite the presidential insults, Carlson expressed love for Trump and desire for his success.
The former broadcaster warned that Israeli military operations against Iran could drag America deeper into regional conflicts.
He argued that a full-scale war with Iran would effectively end Trump’s presidency.
Carlson stated he would urge Trump to act in America’s interests and pursue peace in the region if given the opportunity to speak with the president.
He emphasized that Trump’s timeline matters most and advised against being rushed into military action.
The media personality expressed hope that the president would work to deescalate Middle Eastern tensions.
He described the situation as being in final stages where pulling back from conflict remains possible.
Carlson called for active steps to prevent what he termed inevitable war in the Middle East that could escalate into world war.
He criticized what he described as lies about Trump’s commitment to peace with Iran.
The former Fox News host defended Trump against reports suggesting the president used peace processes to deceive Iran while Israel planned attacks.
Carlson insisted Trump genuinely believes current events could lead to a peace agreement.
Speaking while Trump attended G7 summit talks, Carlson made light of the president’s location in Canada.
He expressed hope that Trump would return home quickly from the northern neighbor.
