Dutch Bros, one of Oregon’s most iconic homegrown companies, is officially relocating its corporate headquarters from Grants Pass, Oregon to Phoenix, Arizona. The move is more than a business decision. It’s a loud and clear indictment of the toxic environment Oregon’s current leadership has created for job creators.
“Dutch Bros didn’t leave Oregon by accident. They were pushed out by a state that punishes success, burdens employers, and chases opportunity away. This is the cost of failed leadership,” said Senate Republican Leader Daniel Bonham (R-The Dalles). “If Republicans were in the majority, this wouldn’t be happening. We know that when you respect job creators, they stay, invest, and grow right here at home.”
Founded in 1992 in Grants Pass, Dutch Bros grew from a single coffee cart into a national brand valued at nearly $12 billion. For years, it stood as one of Oregon’s proudest economic success stories. Now, its departure is both an economic gut punch and a symbol of what the state is losing.
Oregon currently ranks 48th in the nation for business friendliness. Arizona, where Dutch Bros is relocating, ranks 26th. While the company cited access to growing markets and proximity to a major airport, the bigger picture is clear: Arizona welcomed them with a business-friendly climate. Oregon offered high taxes, heavy-handed regulations, and a legislature openly hostile to employers—both big and small.
This isn’t an isolated incident. It’s part of a broader trend. Businesses are leaving, jobs are disappearing, and Oregon’s economy is falling behind because Democrat leaders refuse to acknowledge their policy failures and change course.
Republicans are ready to lead Oregon in a direction that values employers, rewards innovation, and gives businesses a reason to stay and grow in the communities they helped build.
