A few of the loudest voices in the MAGA world have spoken out against Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett, despite her status as a Donald Trump appointee.
Trump nominated the associate justice, and Republican senators hurried to confirm her in 2020, just before the presidential election that November, as the Daily Mail reported.
Despite the Trump appointment, Barrett has stood on her own opinions and frequently joined her liberal colleagues in rulings that have impeded Trump and his second-term agenda.
Consequently, the president’s most aggressive supporters have taken their anger out on Barrett, branding her a traitor due to her judicial independence.
Loudest voices speak out
Far-right activist Laura Loomer said on X this week, “Amy Coney Barrett was a DEI appointee.”
Podcaster Megyn Kelly called the justice “a little squishy” and trashed her on her program.
“As a female who leans right, I’m kind of sick of like, the female conservatives who get appointed to the Supreme Court, Sandra Day O’Connor, now Amy Coney Barrett, like being too squishy,” she went on.
“Get somebody with some rhetorical balls who will hold as fiercely to conservative principles in the judiciary as the left wing does,” Kelly added.
Another take emerges
Mike Davis, a lawyer strongly allied with the MAGA movement, said that Barrett was “scared of her own shadow.”
“She is a rattled law professor with her head up her a**,” Davis, a former clerk to Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, said on Steve Bannon’s podcast.
Not only that, but he also called her “weak and timid” in an interview with NBC News.
In a string of tweets, right-wing commentator Eric Daugherty blasted the justice, calling her an “anti-Trump judge” and a “major issue.”
“Barrett deceived people into thinking she was a reliable constitutionalist. The power has gone to her head. It happens with frightening regularity the last half century,” posted conservative radio host Mark Levin, adding to the right’s sense of frustration over the situation.
