Elon Musk has released the results of a recent drug test in an effort to dispel explosive allegations raised in a New York Times report that claimed he abused illicit substances during his time in government service.
The billionaire tech executive, who recently exited the White House after serving as a senior adviser in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), posted a copy of the drug screening on social media along with a one-word response: “lol.”
The test results showed no traces of drugs such as barbiturates, cocaine, ketamine, ecstasy or amphetamines.
The post came in the early morning hours, following renewed scrutiny stemming from unnamed sources quoted in the Times.
Those sources claimed Musk routinely used Adderall and ketamine while advising President Donald Trump and even alleged he carried a black suitcase filled with narcotics while traveling with the president.
The public response was swift.
While some followers questioned Musk’s need to answer anonymous claims, the clean test results gave him a clear counter to growing speculation about his behavior while in office.
Musk’s interactions with the Trump administration have come under close scrutiny in recent weeks, as previously covered by Resist the Mainstream.
The two reportedly had a falling out after Musk criticized elements of Trump’s tax plan and later accused the president of withholding key evidence related to Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal network.
One of Musk’s since-deleted posts even hinted at potential ties between Trump and Epstein.
Amid the fallout, Vice President J.D. Vance and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles stepped in behind the scenes, according to Trending Politics.
Sources familiar with the matter said both officials urged Musk to back away from his public attacks. Their intervention appeared to be successful.
Soon after the meetings, Musk began deleting his more aggressive social media posts, including the one linking Trump to Epstein.
He later posted a statement that suggested reconciliation might be underway.
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk wrote.
Trump responded to the gesture by telling reporters it was “nice” of Musk to issue the apology.
According to aides, the two men spoke shortly before the post went live, signaling a possible thaw in their strained relationship.
Musk then shifted his tone publicly, sharing Trump’s social media criticisms of California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) handling of the Los Angeles riots.
The pivot was interpreted by some as Musk distancing himself from the earlier controversy.
The rift between Musk and Trump began when the president rejected Musk’s preferred candidate to lead NASA.
That individual had previously donated to Democratic campaigns, which Sergio Gor, director of White House personnel, flagged as a concern.
Musk defended the nominee by stating the donations were business-related, but the disagreement marked the beginning of a wider split.
The New York Times story reignited questions about Musk’s conduct during his time in the administration, but his decision to post the drug test results may shift the narrative.
With key posts deleted and both Musk and Trump taking a less confrontational tone, insiders suggest the two may be on the path to reconciliation.
