A rift has formed between a small portion of Donald Trump’s coalition. Dating back to 2011, one of the major things Trump campaigned on was the fact that Iran could not get a nuclear weapon. Today, there are people who voted for him claiming that it isn’t what they voted for, now that Israel is doing something about it, and Trump is letting them. One of the most vocal opponents of Trump staying out of Israel’s way is Tucker Carlson… and of course, that doesn’t sit well with the President.
We’re all in agreement that no American soldiers should be sent to fight, okay? Okay.
Tucker (who was also against Iran getting a nuke up until recently) told Steve Bannon that, though he still loves Trump, it will be the end of his presidency if he gets involved in Israel’s War, something Trump has shown no indication he is going to do. Trump was first informed of this via a journalismer at the G7. He never heard Tucker’s criticism, as he only made it on the internet.
Then came the new nickname. Tucker is “Kooky” Tucker Carlson now.
Here’s the thing that has me struggling to understand about where the drama is coming from, other than, you know… Israel. Have they asked us for anything other than to stay out of their way? Or have I missed something?
I understand the issue with Ukraine. Zelenskyy regularly acts as if he’s entitled to our tax dollars and insults us for questioning how much of those tax dollars he has received. And we’re expected to do something while all the neighboring European countries a) don’t, and b) criticize us for it.
Israel is more than capable of handling their own business. At best, Trump has been playing good cop to Netanyahu’s bad cop because, as had been a significant point of contention for the president, Iran can not get a nuclear weapon. Before the past year, we had all agreed Iran was the bad guys here.
Trump is also more than capable of overseeing mass deportations and the Big, Beautiful Bill, while also playing good cop and encouraging Iran to work out a deal. One of the reasons I voted for him was that I felt he was capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Maybe that was just me.
Now, if immediately after publishing this post, President Trump announces he’s sending American soldiers to Israel, that changes everything, and I’ll admit to being wrong. We’re nowhere close to that being a thing yet.
