A newly declassified intelligence report has reignited scrutiny over a China fake driver’s license election plot allegedly aimed at influencing the 2020 U.S. presidential election. On Monday evening, FBI Director Kash Patel submitted the report to Congress, detailing alarming allegations that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) mass-produced counterfeit U.S. driver’s licenses to enable fraudulent mail-in voting in support of then-candidate Joe Biden.
According to officials who spoke with Just the News, the intelligence—originally gathered in August 2020—was never fully investigated. At the time, the FBI, under Director Chris Wray, publicly stated that there was no evidence of foreign interference in the election. However, internal documents now suggest that credible intelligence was dismissed despite corroborating indicators, including a U.S. Customs and Border Protection report that nearly 20,000 fake IDs had been intercepted at U.S. ports of entry.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, who has long raised concerns about the mishandling of election-related intelligence, received the documents directly from Patel. “We have located documents Chairman Grassley requested, which detail alarming allegations related to the 2020 U.S. election,” Patel stated. “These include allegations of plans from the CCP to manufacture fake driver’s licenses and ship them into the United States for the purpose of facilitating fraudulent mail-in ballots.”
Despite the seriousness of the alleged China fake driver’s license election plot, the FBI reportedly recalled the intelligence shortly after its submission, citing the need to re-interview the source. The claims were never made public until now. Patel declassified the materials at Grassley’s request, aiming to increase transparency around what he described as a previously buried lead.
This disclosure adds a new dimension to ongoing debates about election integrity, foreign interference, and the transparency of federal agencies tasked with safeguarding democratic processes. Whether further investigation will be launched remains to be seen, but the reemergence of this intelligence has placed new pressure on lawmakers and the intelligence community to revisit the decisions made in the lead-up to the 2020 election.
