It’s unclear if anyone has ever informed the left that an immigrant, legal or not, is not a nationality or race. Still, for some reason, leftists believe these ICE raids have much to do with Mexico and nothing to do with breaking federal immigration laws and crimes post facto, but that is neither here nor there.
A singer I had never heard of, named Nezza, decided to sing the national anthem in Spanish at the Dodgers game to make a point to the Trump Administration, as she believes ICE is not doing its job correctly. And while she likely convinced zero people that no human is illegal with this stunt, we have no choice but to make fun of her, especially considering she posted a teary-eyed video later, as if she accomplished something significant.
According to the New York Post:
Nezza, whose full name is Vanessa Hernández, posted a video on TikTok where viewers can hear an unidentified Dodgers employee telling her before the performance that “we are going to do the song in English today, so I’m not sure if that wasn’t relayed.”
The video later cuts to her singing the national anthem with the text “So I did it anyway” displayed.
The crazy thing is that the Dodgers have nothing to do with ICE, the Trump Administration, or immigration policy. So again, it’s unclear why she went against their wishes when we are talking about a private event here.
“I didn’t think I would be met with any sort of no, especially because we’re in LA and with everything happening,” she said amid tears. “And I’ve sang the national anthem many times in my life. But today out of all days, I could not. I’m sorry. I just could not believe when she [the Dodgers employee] walked in and told me ‘no.’ But I just felt like I needed to do it para mi gente [for my people].”
She didn’t think she would be met with controversy when virtue signaling her lack of virtue to a crowd that has nothing to do with what she’s talking about? That’s pretty comical.
And what makes this even more annoying is that people don’t go to baseball games to be lectured by naive singers, as it’s often an escape from politics and the news. So, even if many of the people agreed with her on her stance on federal immigration policy, which she knows nothing about, it’s still likely not something many hoped for when tuning in. Nonetheless, she did what she did for “her people,” even though she’s an American citizen.
“I’m proud of myself for doing that today,” Nezza added. “Because my parents are immigrants and they’ve been citizens my whole life at this point.”
Does she know the difference between an illegal alien and those who have gained citizenship the legal way? Because I don’t think she does.
She went on to say that she could not imagine being ripped away from her parents at this age, and especially at a younger age.
LOL. You get the point. This girl is just another naive leftist who sleeps better at night when she signals her lack of virtue. Fortunately for her, the Dodgers didn’t really care too much for that stunt, as it really was not as important as her arrogance makes her believe. So, she will likely be invited back. What language she will sing the national Anthem next time is unclear, but let’s just hope it’s the native tongue of the place she pretends to despise.
