A performative stunt by Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) sent Democrats into a frenzy on Thursday after the senator was physically removed from a press conference — after trying to interrupt Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and resisting federal agents’ attempts to remove him, Padilla was forced to the ground and temporarily handcuffed.
Democrats and their media allies pounced on the incident to express outrage, exhibiting the same type of brash behavior that throws norms and decorum to the wind. One such example took place during a House Oversight Committee hearing, where U.S. Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) decided House rules do not apply to him when it comes to political grandstanding.
The first Gen X member elected to Congress began with a unanimous consent request to enter into the record several media articles on the Padilla fiasco, which was granted. Frost began calling for Noem to be subpoenaed, prompting Committee chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) to inform him that he was out of order.
Comer then recognized U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), and the hearing soon went off the rails as Frost continued to reject decorum by speaking over the fiery congresswoman from Georgia about subpoenaing the DHS secretary.
U.S. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) again lets his hearing descend into chaos after he tells Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) to “shut up” about subpoenaing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem after the wrongful handcuffing of U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA). pic.twitter.com/dVbveYPk48

“There’s a privilege of the majority, and that means we’re in charge, not your side, because you lost the election because you supported the destruction of our country,” Greene told her rude Democrat colleague, who persisted in talking over her.
“Democrats can’t follow the rules,” Greene added. “You’re out of order. Can’t follow the law.”
Fed up with Frost’s antics, Comer shouted, “Shut up! Just shut up! Shut up!”
“No, you don’t,” Frost shouted back, after the chairman fed into his victim mentality. “No, you’re not going to tell me to shut up!”
“He’s been out of order six times,” Comer told other members of the committee.” He is trying to get on MSNBC. You probably knocked somebody off MSNBC to get on there.”
Not one to suffer fools, Greene replied, “I think it’s because he’s been arrested as a former Antifa member, right? Antifa.”
“Back to order, Ms. Greene,” Comer appealed.
“He’s a former Antifa member, Mr. Chairman. No surprise,” she added.
Frost, a political activist, was arrested in November 2021, while running for office, after obstructing traffic during a voter rights rally in Lafayette Square, near the White House.
Former GWB aide Ari Fleischer summed things up well Thursday when he posted on X: “So this is how it works now. Instead of government officials calling one another to meet, everyone with a cause should show up at someone else’s news conference, interrupt, shout, and demand they get questions. Do Ds want Rs to do this to them? Ds think they’re being clever. Instead, Ds are violating the norms and push our nation in an uncivil direction – because they think they’re better than everyone else. This has to stop.”
As for Frost, he has a history of obstructing proceedings, apparently believing rules don’t apply to him:
WHAT A CLOWN SHOW!
Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) keeps saying “President Musk” and calling Trump “Grifter-in-Chief” during an Oversight Meeting.

Of course, expectations are limited for the ill-equipped lawmaker, who lacks a formal education and was elected on little more than being a young black man:
