A 16-year-old Ukrainian refugee has threatened eight schools in Budapest, Hungary, with detonating explosives, the Office of the State Secretary for Law Enforcement revealed on Friday, 13 June.
The young man threatened to bomb eight schools in the capital by saying in his emails that the institutions had hexogen bombs, also known as RDX bombs, and that they would explode if the buildings were not evacuated, according to the public statement.
With the help of the American agency FBI, the National Bureau of Investigation of the Rapid Response Police of Hungary determined that the author of the post and the bomb threats was a high school boy. He was caught and arrested by officers for the crime of threatening to commit a terrorist act. The motive for his actions is not yet known, the State Secretariat said.
They also added that the youngster had been spreading his vile messages on social media, writing verbatim: ‘The new generation plan involves the murder and intimidation of a large number of Hungarian citizens. The reason for this is hatred and love of human suffering, ie, sadism.’
Earlier this year, in January, a total of 240 schools across Hungary received bomb threats via anonymous emails. However, no actual explosives were found in any of the affected schools.
