California News:
Following the ridiculous and really bad political performance art Thursday by U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA), the Democrat fundraising began.
Padilla, who no one really knows, was forcibly removed and handcuffed at a press conference for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem in Los Angeles after barging in and causing a melee attempting to question the secretary.
Predictably, California State Senator Wiener jumped on the bandwagon. And while he wasn’t fundraising (yet), he called what happened to Sen. Padilla “fascism,” and referred to law enforcement officers as “thugs”:
“This is where we’re at as a country: Federal thugs detaining and roughing up a United States Senator for trying to speak to a cabinet secretary and question administration policy. They’re doing this as they criminally prosecute a member of the House of Representatives, create a police state, and deploy the military on the streets of Los Angeles.
“Anyone who continues to doubt whether this is fascism is living in an alternate reality. We must mobilize and put a stop to this frontal assault on our democracy and our most basic liberties.”
Katy,
Yesterday, at a Kristi Noem’s Department of Homeland Security press conference, U.S. Senator Alex Padilla was forcibly removed, roughed up, and handcuffed by federal thugs.
Notably, Senator Wiener fails to mention that Senator Padilla barged his way into Secretary Noem’s press conference without his official Senate pin visible…

Let that sink in: A sitting United States Senator was physically assaulted for doing his job – for daring to stand up for his constituents and question this administration.
Katy, this is what fascism looks like in America.
Still think “it can’t happen here”? It already has. While Trump’s militarized crackdown continues in Los Angeles, ICE is escalating its terror campaign across the country – including right here in San Francisco. Our neighbors are being harassed, detained, and disappeared.
We must protect each other. I urge you to know your rights and share these resources widely: https://www.aclunc.org/our-
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: we’re deep in the red zone for our constitution and our democracy. But we are not powerless.
Peaceful, sustained, mass mobilization is what has stopped fascist regimes before – and it’s what will stop this one now. When we rise up together – in protest, in solidarity, in defense of one another – we win.
This is not normal. This is not acceptable. And we will not let it stand.
In solidarity,
Senator Scott Wiener
That tome was worthy of an airsick bag.
On X Sen. Wiener said, “The physical assault of a United States Senator by federal law enforcement — for simply questioning a cabinet secretary — is a big test. The Senate can either assert itself as a co-equal branch of government & demand accountability or it can be docile & fade into the background.”
Sen. Scott Wiener has already defined himself as a hyperbolic partisan who lives in an alternate universe. But more importantly, in his alternate universe, the law only applies when he deems it so… rather than “lady justice is blind,” and rules are rules.
Senator Padilla pulled a ridiculous stunt Thursday which could have gone very badly if not for law enforcement doing their job by the book.
Padilla’s stunt was coordinated as Democrats across the country were ready with the press and social media statements as soon as he was removed from the press conference.
Perhaps my favorite comment about this absurd caper is from Lance Christensen on X:
“I’ve known Alex since his days as a CA State Legislator. His political savvy helped his meteoric rise in CA Dem circles with deep LA & Sacramento connections. After narrowly beating my friend, @Pete4CA, to become Sec of State, he oversaw the motor voter program that allowed illegal immigrants to vote. It makes sense why he’s so mad here.”
I too have been covering Alex Padilla since his days in the California Legislature, and when he ushered in the catastrophic Motor Voter program, with the false assurances that illegal aliens would not be eligible for California drivers licenses, nor would they be registered to vote.
In 2019, the Globe reported on a lawsuit alleging that then-California Secretary of State Alex Padilla has “forsaken his duty to ensure that non-citizens” are kept off voter rolls. The lawsuit alleged that the State of California violated the National Voter Registration Act by failing to verify citizenship before placing voters on the voter rolls:
California is violating federal law by failing to verify citizenship before placing voters on the voter rolls, according to attorneys Harmeet Dhillon and Mark Meuser. They say this compromises the integrity of our election system.
Calling this “Judicial Watch 2.0,” Dhillon and Meuser filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of Plaintiffs Roxanne Beckford Hoge, Ali Mazarei, and Corrin Rankin against Alex Padilla, California Secretary of State, and Steve Gordon, Director of California Department of Motor Vehicles for violations of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993.
The lawsuit alleges that the state is neglecting two of its three duties as outlined by the voter act. Judicial Watch already filed a federal lawsuit against Los Angeles County and the State of California over their failure to clean their voter rolls and to produce election-related records as required by the federal National Voter Registration Act. “Eleven of California’s 58 counties have registration rates exceeding 100% of the age-eligible citizenry,” Judicial Watch said. “California has the highest rate of inactive registrations of any state in the country. Los Angeles County has the highest number of inactive registrations of any single county in the country.”
“The National Voter Registration Act says three things,” attorney Mark Meuser said in an interview. “Number 1, is that the state shall determine eligibility. Eligibility and citizenship go hand in hand,” Meuser said. “All they are doing is looking at state records for felons or duplicate registrations.”
Meuser said the United States Supreme Court says state records can be used for citizenship verification. But California is picking and choosing which records to use, rather than using all three qualifying issues.
This is who Alex Padilla is – a deep state Democrat:
A 2018 state audit found the California DMV’s “motor voter” program only recently implemented, was riddled with technical problems that led to hundreds of thousands of discrepancies in voter registrations. Last September, the DMV sent out 23,000 “erroneous” voter registrations they blamed on “technical errors,” Last September, the DMV sent out 23,000 “erroneous” voter registrations they blamed on ‘technical errors,’” California Globe reported. “Padilla proclaimed himself ‘extremely disappointed and deeply frustrated,’” but nothing changed.
The lawsuit alleges that SOS Padilla has “forsaken his duty to ensure that non-citizens” are kept off voter rolls.
“In direct violation of his duties to ensure that only eligible voters are placed on the voter rolls, California Secretary of State Alex Padilla has established a pattern and practice of doing nothing to verify that a potential voter is a United States citizen, thus causing non-citizens to be placed on the voter rolls,” the lawsuit says.
Read more on the lawsuit here. Alex Padilla is no victim – he’s much more of a perpetrator.
