According to the New York Post, Israel’s covert assault on Iran—codenamed Operation “Rising Lion”—was months in the making, involving smuggled drones, hidden missiles, and a ruse that lured top Iranian officials into a fatal trap.

The strike is already being compared to Israel’s legendary “pager attack” on Hamas, not for its scale, but for its surgical precision and intelligence mastery.

Mossad agents reportedly infiltrated Iran over several months, embedding explosive drones and stashing missiles across key locations. In a bold twist, Israeli operatives orchestrated a phony meeting to draw high-ranking Iranian commanders into a targeted kill zone.

“We carried out specific activities to help us learn more about them, and then used that information to influence their behavior,” one Israeli official said.

“We knew this would lead them to meet — but more importantly, we knew how to keep them there.”

It wasn’t immediately clear how Israel managed to lure the Iranian officials together.

“Significant intelligence was gathered and surveillance was conducted to incriminate senior members of the Iranian defense establishment and nuclear scientists who were eliminated,” a source told The Post.

The strike unfolded in three coordinated waves early Friday. First, Israeli commandos deployed precision weapons near Iran’s surface-to-air missile defenses. Next, specialized strike systems were mounted on vehicles and launched at Iranian air defense nodes.

Finally, the trap was sprung: explosive-laden drones zeroed in on a missile base outside Tehran, destroying surface-to-surface launchers that Israel says threatened both civilian and strategic assets.

Israeli sources say the mission aimed to cripple Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure—and decapitate its leadership in the process.

President Trump reacted to the attacks on TRUTH Social, encouraging Iran to make a nuclear deal:

Certain Iranian hardliner’s spoke bravely, but they didn’t know what was about to happen. They are all DEAD now, and it will only get worse! There has already been great death and destruction, but there is still time to make this slaughter, with the next already planned attacks being even more brutal, come to an end. Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire. No more death, no more destruction, JUST DO IT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. God

Two months ago I gave Iran a 60 day ultimatum to “make a deal.” They should have done it! Today is day 61. I told them what to do, but they just couldn’t get there. Now they have, perhaps, a second chance!

Iran has reportedly ended any and all deal talks and has no plans to return to the table.
