Podcast star Alex Cooper is sharing new details about her time as a college athlete. In a new Hulu documentary, she accuses her former Boston University soccer coach of sexual harassment.
Cooper, the host of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, said the abuse took place over three years, starting her freshman year at BU. She alleges that Coach Nancy Feldman repeatedly made inappropriate comments about her body and personal life and created an environment that felt unsafe.
BU responds to claims
In response to the allegations, Boston University issued a statement to E! News, saying:
“Boston University has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment. We have a robust system of resources, support and staff dedicated to student wellbeing and a thorough reporting process through our Equal Opportunity Office.”
The university also encouraged members of their community to report any concerns.
The documentary details disturbing claims
In “Call Her Alex,” Cooper recounts specific incidents that left lasting trauma. She claims Feldman once called her into a private meeting after seeing her dropped off on campus by a male friend and asked if they had slept together.
She said she was later benched from the NCAA championship game as a result of that interaction.
Cooper also said her parents met with BU’s dean of athletics at the time to raise concerns, but no formal investigation was ever launched.
Where is Feldman now?
Toward the end of filming the documentary, Cooper says she discovered that other players had similar experiences with Feldman. Some, she claims, are still dealing with the impact today.
Feldman retired from Boston University in 2022 after 27 years with the program, according to BU Today.
Who is Alex Cooper?
Cooper’s documentary doesn’t solely focus on the alleged harassment. Hulu’s press release details that it follows her as she prepares for her first tour.
“The docuseries offers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the life-defining events that shaped Cooper’s journey as she grew from a 24-year-old woman with a sex-and-dating podcast to the CEO of a media empire in just six years,” the release reads. “More than just a success story, it’s a portrait of a woman who is creating a space where women feel seen, heard and empowered.”
Launched at just 24 years old with her former roommate, “Call Her Daddy” launched in 2018 and has since secured multiple lucrative contracts.
Her co-host, Sofia Franklyn, left the podcast after a business disagreement and went on to launch her own.
In 2021, Cooper signed an exclusive $60 million licensing deal with Spotify, making her one of the highest-paid female podcasters. When that contract expired, she signed a $125 million three-year deal with SiriusXM in 2024.
She’s interviewed many notable individuals on her podcast, like musician Miley Cyrus. Cooper also interviewed former Vice President Kamala Harris during her campaign for president.
