Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) was one of several Democrats who visited an immigration facility purportedly to conduct oversight.
Her visit to the facility went off without a hitch, but then McIver decided to mix it up with federal authorities outside the gates, allegedly throwing forearm shivers like an old NFL linebacker.
This week, it was announced that a grand jury found sufficient cause to indict her.
But I am a congresswoman
For some reason, Democrats seem to think that holding office is a license to break the law, especially when it comes to matters of the police and immigration.
How many times have we seen videos of politicians being stopped for a DUI or speeding, telling the officer, “Do you know who I am?”
This was more or less what took place at the immigration facility, as the videos I saw clearly showed McIver putting her hands on federal officers, as well as trying to obstruct them after having been repeatedly warned to back off.
Acting U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba took no chances, sending the indictment to the grand jury, and what do you know, it found enough evidence to indict the House Democrat.
Habba stated, “As I have stated in the past, it is my Constitutional obligation as the Chief Federal Law Enforcement Officer for New Jersey to ensure that our federal partners are protected when executing their duties.”
After the indictment came down, McIver responded, saying that it “is no more justified than the original charges, and is an effort by Trump’s administration to dodge accountability for the chaos ICE caused and scare me out of doing the work I was elected to do.”
Several Democrats have warned the White House they would look to make a move on Trump if any of the Democrats present that day were charged, so now we will see if they follow up on their bluff.
My biggest fear here is that they draw a Democrat-appointed judge who grants a motion to dismiss before the case gets started or vacates the verdict if a jury find her guilty.
The fact this woman allegedly put her hands on an officer cannot be overlooked and left unpunished.
If I advocated for Jan. 6 rioters who beat on cops not be pardoned, you had better believe I will advocate for a Democrat to be held accountable for the same kind of violation.
