Ya know what’s even funnier than David Hogg getting a leadership position in the DNC because some in the party felt more Hogg would help attract male voters? Removing David from said leadership position for no other reason than he’s both a male and identifies as one. Yes, in a vote conducted by a group of party elitists, Hogg’s election as vice chair has been nullified. Side note, a poll circulating on X yesterday gave Democrats an approval rating of only 21%.
To set the stage for what happened, listen to this cisegendered white man calling Democrats a threat to Democracy:
Alright, so check it. The DNC voted for new leadership and, in a free and fair vote, elected two men to be vice-chairmen of the party: Hogg, and some dude named Malcolm Kenyatta. Here’s the thing with Democrats: they have rules in place in case a free and fair election doesn’t give them the result they want. In this case, too many people who were born male and identify that way were elected, so Democrats voted to nullify it and start over again.
Because DNC rules require equal gender representation on its executive committee, not including the party chair, the results of elections in February meant the DNC had to elect at least one man to its final two vice chair slots. But instead of holding individual votes for each position, one to be filled by a man and one by a candidate of any gender, the party decided to hold one vote to decide who took the final two slots.
I know what you’re thinking:
Sadly, yet understandably, Hogg is said f*ck all this noise and decided he’s not going to bother running again. He’s going to stick with what he’s best at: posting on X, conning donors into giving money to his PAC, and appearing on cable news.
Don’t get me wrong. We want Democrats to be as dysfunctional as is humanly possible. Yet it still gives me a chuckle that, for an institution that is the least popular in America outside of the journalisming industry, any time a Democrat starts to make the slightest bit of sense, they get ganged up on and destroyed. You see what they’re doing to John Fetterman:
Hogg suggested to Democrats that they consider not sucking as hard as they do and that, mayhaps, it no longer makes sense for them to have the gender balance rule anymore in this day and age, because he wants to…get this…focus on who is best for the job.
Democrats would rather the gender balance rule.
