California Governor Gavin Newsom experienced a significant technical failure during a live video broadcast intended to criticize President Trump’s response to ongoing riots in Los Angeles.
The Democratic governor’s official X account released a live video feed showing Newsom addressing the camera directly.
Viewers, however, encountered immediate audio problems that rendered the beginning of his remarks completely inaudible.
The video, which has since been deleted, appeared to be an attempt by Newsom to deliver criticism of Trump’s deployment of federal forces to address violent anti-ICE protests that have erupted across Los Angeles.
The technical difficulties undermined the governor’s intended message from the start.
Audio was eventually restored partway through the broadcast, allowing portions of Newsom’s speech to be heard by viewers. However, the initial segment of his remarks remained lost due to the technical malfunction.
In the portions that became audible, Newsom accused President Trump of overriding established legal procedures.
The governor specifically criticized Trump’s decision to deploy National Guard troops to address the ongoing unrest in Los Angeles, according to Breitbart News.
The riots began over the weekend as protesters responded to federal immigration enforcement operations conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The demonstrations quickly escalated into violent confrontations with law enforcement personnel.
Video footage from the scene captured protesters throwing eggs at officials and shouting warnings about impending immigration raids.
Television news coverage documented lines of law enforcement officers positioned throughout city streets as protesters engaged in taunting behavior.
Additional footage showed demonstrators blocking roadways and hurling objects at police vehicles, Resist the Mainstream reported earlier this week.
One particularly dramatic scene captured a vehicle completely engulfed in flames while positioned in the middle of a street intersection.
Federal authorities arrested more than 40 individuals during immigration enforcement operations conducted on Friday in Los Angeles, per Breitbart.
The arrests included both raid activities and the execution of search warrants throughout the metropolitan area.
City officials and immigrant advocacy organizations expressed outrage over the federal enforcement actions.
Their angry responses contributed to the escalating tensions that ultimately led to the weekend violence.
President Trump responded to the deteriorating situation by ordering 4,000 National Guard troops into the Los Angeles area.
The president also authorized the deployment of hundreds of U.S. Marines to assist with maintaining order in the affected areas.
Democratic leaders have condemned Trump’s military deployment as an unnecessary escalation tactic.
They argue that the federal response exceeds what the situation requires and represents government overreach.
Breitbart further noted that in his eventual statement, Newsom declared that “The federal government is taking over the California National Guard and deploying 2,000 soldiers in Los Angeles — not because there is a shortage of law enforcement, but because they want a spectacle. Don’t give them one. Never use violence. Speak out peacefully.”
Resist the Mainstream previously reported that Newsom’s wife has come under fire for visiting a high-end Beverly Hills wellness complex on Monday as widespread protests continued.
The 50-year-old documentary filmmaker appeared at One Beverly Hills, an upscale spa and wellness facility located in one of the city’s most exclusive areas. First lady Jennifer Siebel Newsom wore expensive sneakers valued at $500 and carried a designer tote bag worth $2,500, accompanied by a security detail.
