An insider at ABC told Fox News on Wednesday that the quick firing of longtime ABC News employee Terry Moran was necessary because a long, drawn-out battle would have impacted viewership too much.
Moran, a senior national correspondent from 2018 until his firing, was suspended and then fired on Tuesday after posting on X that President Donald Trump and his adviser Stephen Miller were “world class hater[s].”
ABC News said that the post violated its policies about fairness and objectivity.
“We f***ing took it seriously and dealt with it pretty g*d***mn quickly,” the insider said.
“Just sad”
‘It’s just sad honestly. It’s sad for him, a long-time colleague, friend, a good person, family man. It’s just unfortunate, but there was no alternative, especially in these times,’ the source told Fox News.
The insider said that Moran’s colleagues liked him and that he was not an unhinged liberal. He even clashed with other liberals over politics at times, the insider said.
“It’s like a waxing and waning, you know, type of, like, whimsical philosopher… that was his shtick,” the staffer said. “He was very folksy in the way that he did things like this… I kind of see maybe what he was trying to do. He used the wrong f—ing words, obviously. I can get maybe what he was trying to say, but like, dude, put the phone down and go to bed.”
Moran was fired just days before his contract was up for renewal. The network decided not to renew it.
“Clear violation”
“We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran and based on his recent post — which was a clear violation of ABC News policies — we have made the decision to not renew,” a spokesperson for ABC News said.
“At ABC News, we hold all of our reporters to the highest standards of objectivity, fairness and professionalism, and we remain committed to delivering straightforward, trusted journalism,” the spokesperson added.
Never mind that ABC News is just as biased as any of the other mainstream news networks.
If the leadership of ABC News thinks Moran’s firing is fooling anyone, they must be delusional.
Prior to his firing, Moran was drawing a $500,000 salary, but he couldn’t keep his vitriol to himself.
Now he will be unemployed, unless perhaps MSNBC wants to hire him to spew more Trump-hatred.
