ARRESTS, VANDALISM & PRIVATE SECURITY ON LA STREETS AS CURFEW BEGINS
LAPD pushed back protesters in downtown Los Angeles with sweeping lines of officers on foot, horseback, and in police cruisers as the citywide 8PM curfew took effect.
LAPD arrested a suspect accused of throwing an M-80 explosive at police vehicles in downtown Los Angeles. Nearby, businesses rapidly boarded up in anticipation of unrest, including the Cabinet of Curiosities shop, where an M-80 had just detonated outside.
As tensions rise, local tattoo artist and Downtown Mak shop owner painted a Mexican flag on his plywood-covered storefront, telling us, “It’s in my blood.” Private security patrols and curfew enforcement added to the tense atmosphere across downtown.
At an anti-ICE protest in Los Angeles, a United States Marine Corps flag was seen waving above the crowd—just as 700 Marines were reportedly deployed to the area in response to the escalating unrest.
Anti-ICE protesters briefly took over a section of the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles, bringing traffic to a standstill before being forcefully cleared by police. Officers moved in quickly to disperse the crowd, making several arrests as they pushed demonstrators off the roadway.
