Billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk has publicly acknowledged regret over some of his recent posts about President Donald Trump on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Knewz.com has learned that the Tesla CEO wrote on X that some of his recent posts about the President “went too far.”

The relationship between Musk and Trump soured over the previous week when the tech billionaire trashed the President’s flagship spending bill, dubbed the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” calling it a “disgusting abomination.”
“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore… This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” the Tesla CEO wrote on X. “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it,” he added.
On June 4, Musk shared a graphic depicting rising national debt over the past three decades, writing, “Mammoth spending bills are bankrupting America! ENOUGH.”
He also said that Trump’s new spending bill “more than defeats all the cost savings achieved by the [Department of Government Efficiency] team at great personal cost and risk.”

The budget bill, which includes significant tax breaks and increased defense spending, narrowly passed the House on May 22 with a 215-214 vote and is currently under review in the Senate.
Notably, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), a nonpartisan group that analyzes government spending, warned that Trump’s flagship spending bill would add $3.8 trillion to the federal government’s $36.2 trillion in debt.
During his scathing attacks on President Trump and the spending bill, Musk also claimed without evidence that Trump is mentioned in the unreleased government files linked to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein—a claim that was soon rubbished by the White House.
President Trump retorted to Musk’s claims saying he had “lost his mind” and threatened to terminate the billionaire’s government contracts, which have an estimated value of $38 billion, according to reports.

“I think it’s a very bad thing, because he’s very disrespectful. You could not disrespect the office of the president,” the President said in an interview on Sunday.
However, it seems Musk has now softened his stance on Trump, as he wrote in a recent post on X: “I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far.”
Musk’s post came after Trump hinted at the possibility of reconciliation between the two during a recent interview, saying, “I think [Musk] feels very badly that he said that.” The President said that although he was a “little disappointed” about the fallout, there were “no hard feelings.”
According to reports, Musk seemingly deleted several of his posts over the weekend, including one calling for Trump’s impeachment.
It is worth noting that the fallout between Trump and former “First Buddy” Musk came shortly after the latter left his government position as the co-head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Reports have also pointed out that Musk’s criticism of Trump’s bill could stem from the fact that the spending bill presents multiple headwinds for Tesla, particularly its electric vehicle (EV) and energy businesses.
For instance, the bill proposes phasing out Joe Biden-era EV tax credits (up to $7,500 for new cars and $4,000 for used ones), which could negatively affect Tesla’s consumer sales and profit margins.
Furthermore, the bill says that if a company has already sold more than 200,000 EVs from 2009 to 2025, its vehicles would no longer qualify for the tax credit. Since Tesla has sold over 336,000 EVs just in the first three months of 2025, it would lose eligibility for these tax credits, potentially deterring buyers due to higher upfront costs.
As for Tesla’s energy division, which earned $2.73 billion in the first quarter of 2025 (up 67% YoY), it could suffer from the bill’s cancellation of energy tax credits, reports have mentioned.
