California leadership has been allowing rioters to run wild in Compton and L.A. of late, hoping to use the riots to score political points with voters.
Key figures on the left have been insisting that everything is just fine, even though the streets have literally been set on fire.
Now, President Donald Trump is all but encouraging border czar Tom Homan to have Gov. Gavin Newsom placed under arrest.
Lock him up
Homan commented during an interview that the response by California Democrats had been a disgrace, and people like Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass should be arrested, or at least that is how the media was portraying his comments.
Newsom then dared Homan to take action, stating, “Come after me, arrest me. Let’s just get it over with, tough guy.”
The governor continued, “You know, I don’t give a damn. But I care about my community, I care about this community. The hell are they doing?”
He added, “These guys need to grow up, they need to stop and we need to push back and I’m sorry to be so clear, but that kind of bloviating is disgusting. So, Tom, arrest me. Let’s go.”
This, of course, all got back to Trump, who agreed that Homan should arrest Newsom.
Trump was asked by Fox News’ Peter Doocy if Homan should follow through with his threat, Trump responded, “I would do it, if I were Tom.”
The president continued, “Gavin likes the publicity, but I think it would be a great thing. He’s done a terrible job. Look, I like Gavin Newsom. He’s a nice guy, but he’s grossly incompetent.”
Trump went on, “Everybody knows all you have to do is look at the little railroad he’s building. It’s about 100 times over budget.”
Homan appeared on Morning Joe this week, and he was asked about the comment regarding Newsom’s arrest.
He responded, “I’m not biting on that. The NBC reporter interviewed me very dishonest[ly]. We did a 20-minute interview, and it cuts out a little clip that takes my words out of context.”
The border czar added, “Here’s what we said, and I talked about these people that are in these protests and rioting, when they cross the line. They have a right to protest, they have First Amendment rights.”
Homan concluded, “But they can’t cross that line … They can’t cross that line of putting their hands on officers, they can’t cross that line of knowingly concealing an illegal alien. It’s all in [federal] statute and they will be prosecuted.”
Again, I just cannot help but laugh at how Democrats are trying to turn this all around on the Trump administration when they are allowing lawlessness to rule the day in California.
In my opinion, if they don’t want the government’s help, sit back and allow their streets to be overrun until they ask for help.
Yes, I do have empathy for conservatives living in that state, but I would suggest they move somewhere else if they are sick and tired of Democrats and their extreme leftist agenda.
