Get ready for complete and utter outrage on the left in the wake of a move made by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Kennedy just fired the entire board of the CDC’s board of vaccine advisers.
He claimed the move was necessary to start to regain the faith of the American people regarding vaccines.
Information held back
The COVID-19 vaccine was controversial for many reasons, including recent reports that some side effects of the vaccine were kept hidden from the American people.
As someone who covered the vaccine in real-time, I was writing about concerns of the possible impact of the vaccine on younger athletes, particularly males, who seemed to be experiencing an inordinate number of cardiac events after taking the vaccine.
At the time, I did not blame the health issues on the vaccine, but I was stunned that nobody in the medical community seemed interested in investigating the possibility.
To that point, Kennedy stated, “A clean sweep is needed to re-establish public confidence in vaccine science.”
He added, “The public must know that unbiased science — evaluated through a transparent process and insulated from conflicts of interest — guides the recommendations of our health agencies.”
Kennedy continued, “The prior administration made a concerted effort to lock in public health ideology and limit the incoming administration’s ability to take the proper actions to restore public trust in vaccines.”
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) responded to the move, saying, “Firing experts that have spent their entire lives protecting kids from deadly disease is not reform — it’s reckless, radical, and rooted in conspiracy, not science. Wiping out an entire panel of vaccine experts doesn’t build trust — it shatters it, and worse, it sends a chilling message: that ideology matters more than evidence, and politics more than public health.”
Bruce A. Scott, president of the American Medical Association, added, “Today’s action to remove the 17 sitting members of ACIP undermines that trust and upends a transparent process that has saved countless lives.”
Scott added, “With an ongoing measles outbreak and routine child vaccination rates declining, this move will further fuel the spread of vaccine-preventable illnesses.”
I expect the Dems to come out firing, especially since Trump will now be putting all of his people in place on this advisory board.
But again, let’s not forget the fact we were not being given the complete facts about the COVID-19 vaccine while the government was mandating that we take it.
Honestly, while I realize this move will create a political nightmare for Trump, I have no problem with it.
