Many liberals who shielded the senility and cognitive decline of Joe Biden with their denial for years now don’t want to talk about it. But some have decided to make money off it by pretending to have second thoughts out of reborn independence in their worldview. Jake Tapper of CNN made a splash last month with the publication of his book Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again. The book made headlines as an “explosive” reveal of Biden’s cognitive decline and the denial of Democrats to cover up their president’s disqualifying level of senility.
Tapper tried to make a case for Biden’s senility becoming noticeable in 2024, which is when Biden was running for reelection. Conservatives had noticed the same about Biden four years ago, when Tapper and others probably couldn’t see any better. But chances are Tapper decided to wear the blindfold till he could cash the story as old wine in new bottle sold to conservatives. Selling books and getting conservative viewers for his talk show were two targets Tapper hit with his book.
Biden’s press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is the latest one to hop on this book sale train. The DEI hire, whose non-answers to simple questions at the White House press events made her the subject of countless memes for over two years, recently announced that she has left the Democratic Party and is now an “independent.” Coincidentally, this is the title of her upcoming book, Independent, which is supposed to give readers “a look inside a broken White House.”
Isn’t it interesting how these people have so much to tell about their leaders when they are not paid by them anymore? Or in the case of these liberals, who are self-baptized in the fountain of independence, it’s so much to sell.
Chris Cillizza called it a “pretty convenient transition” to sell her book as he went on to tell the dirty little secret of Jean-Pierre’s work as the White House Press Secretary.
The label of independence and the effort to rework their public image are mainly targeted at conservative audiences. Such liberals want us to buy and read their books by hooking us on the thought that it offers something damaging to the liberals, sort of appealing to the nerve of political combat throbbing in us, particularly after the weaponized government of the Biden years. Many conservatives fall right into their game, sharing stories and quotes from such books on social media – in other words, promoting it for free.
How many of you really believe that these liberals have honestly moved? Honestly and liberals in the same sentence does sound a little odd, no? But here we are particularly talking about these career liberals who cash their time and skills, or in case of Jean-Pierre lack thereof, with the Democrats before selling themselves to conservatives? It’s like Bernie Sanders or Joe Manchin who are independents, in name only, but Democrats in every political sense of the word. Spending money and time on the narratives of such figures when you could find much better use for them would hardly make a wise choice.
