Colbert’s outrage over Trump’s Pride Month stance shows how deeply Hollywood expects the government to pander to the LGBTQ agenda.
In a display of Hollywood elitism colliding head-on with common sense governance, Stephen Colbert has thrown a predictable tantrum over the Trump Administration’s refusal to issue a Pride Month proclamation. The late-night host, continuing his tradition of leftist pearl-clutching, accused the administration of “curtailing protections” and being “less inclusive” than the Buffalo Bills football team. Meanwhile, the administration has quietly pursued actual global policy to decriminalize homosexuality abroad while focusing domestically on protecting women’s rights through Title IX – actions that speak louder than empty virtue signaling.
The Left’s Outrage Machine Goes Into Overdrive
Here we go again, folks. Hollywood’s self-appointed moral conscience Stephen Colbert is beside himself that the Trump Administration isn’t hanging rainbow flags from every federal building. During his show, Colbert launched into one of his signature meltdowns: “This is shortsighted and long-stupidded and unsurprising. Since taking office, the Trump Administration has curtailed protections around LGBTQ rights, banned trans service members from the military, axed hundreds of millions in LGBTQ health funding, and now said they have no plans to issue a Pride Month proclamation this June.”
What Colbert conveniently ignores is that the federal government doesn’t exist to celebrate every special interest month. The administration has instead focused on something truly radical – applying Title IX as originally intended to protect women’s rights. What a concept! Using laws as they were written rather than twisting them beyond recognition to serve a political agenda.
Actions Speak Louder Than Virtue Signaling
While the media hyperventilates over the lack of a ceremonial proclamation, they’re deliberately ignoring the substantive actions the Trump administration has taken on the international stage. Trump’s team launched a global campaign to decriminalize homosexuality in countries where people face imprisonment or death for their sexual orientation. That’s right – while the left demands symbolic gestures, Trump focused on saving lives abroad.
“As we celebrate LGBT Pride Month and recognize the outstanding contributions LGBT people have made to our great Nation, let us also stand in solidarity with the many LGBT people who live in dozens of countries worldwide that punish, imprison, or even execute individuals on the basis of their sexual orientation. My Administration has launched a global campaign to decriminalize homosexuality and invite all nations to join us in this effort!” – Donald Trump
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the issue with refreshing straightforwardness: “Well, there are no plans for a proclamation for the month of June, but I can tell you this president is very proud to be a president for all Americans, regardless of race, religion or creed.” Imagine that – treating all Americans equally rather than elevating certain groups for political purposes. The concept seems foreign to the identity-politics-obsessed left.
The Football Team vs. The Constitution
In perhaps the most laughable moment of his tirade, Colbert compared the White House to a football team: “No Pride Month proclamation, which means the White House is less inclusive and has less humanity than the Buffalo Bills, who tweeted, ‘Happy Pride. Feeling all the Buffalove!’ Even they know! Even an NFL team knows. Even the Bills know love is love is Buffalove.”
“No Pride Month proclamation, which means the White House is less inclusive and has less humanity than the Buffalo Bills, who tweeted, ‘Happy Pride. Feeling all the Buffalove!’ Even they know! Even an NFL team knows. Even the Bills know love is love is Buffalove.” – Stephen Colbert
Here’s a news flash, Stephen: the White House isn’t in the business of marketing rainbow merchandise or chasing social media applause. The Buffalo Bills can tweet whatever they want – they’re a private organization trying to sell tickets. The federal government, however, has the pesky responsibility of representing ALL Americans and upholding constitutional principles. What radical leftists like Colbert can’t grasp is that true equality means not giving special treatment to any group – even during their designated month.
Substance Over Symbolism
While the Department of Education has designated June as “Title IX Month” to restore protections for women’s sports, the left is more concerned with pronouns than protecting female athletes. The FBI reportedly discouraged staff from celebrating Pride Month on company time – a reasonable policy ensuring government employees focus on their actual jobs rather than participating in political celebrations. Meanwhile, deepfake videos falsely showing Trump “canceling” Pride Month circulate online, further inflaming tensions.
The reality is that the Trump administration is prioritizing substance over symbolism, constitutional principles over passing cultural trends, and the needs of all Americans over the demands of vocal special interest groups. In today’s political climate, that approach is refreshingly rare – and exactly why the mainstream media and their late-night mouthpieces are so desperately trying to paint it as controversial.
Perhaps if Colbert spent less time virtue signaling and more time considering what actual governance requires, he might understand why proclamations take a backseat to policy. But that would require nuance and honesty – two qualities in increasingly short supply in today’s entertainment landscape.
