Only the left can create a system where both the poorest and the richest thrive, while the middle class gets squeezed out.
A TikToker is gaining attention on social media after sharing her struggles to find a rental for under $6,000 a month on LA’s West Side.
So it turns out that radical rent control doesn’t do much to actually keep rent affordable. Shocking, right? And of course, it doesn’t help that she’s searching in a sanctuary state, where housing supply for legal residents is further strained. Nonetheless, paying $6,000 for a property that you don’t even own is a scandal that will only get worse.
Do you think it’s just a coincidence that the more liberal an area is, the more expensive it is? Because I don’t believe so.
Four out of five of the most expensive places to live in the U.S. are in California, so it’s no surprise she’s having trouble. But again, she’s not even buying—she’s renting a place she’ll likely never own. It’s hard to even comprehend that.
And to top it all off, due to sheer government incompetence, an unprecedented number of renters have entered the market because the local government in Los Angeles failed to prevent a very, very preventable natural disaster. So, while more and more people are searching for temporary housing, partly due to the government’s inability to even pretend to care when fire risk was at its highest, we’re seeing more unaffordable rentals that somehow keep exceeding everyone’s expectations.
It’s pretty pathetic that the left often enacts policies under the guise of protecting the little guy just trying to make ends meet, while they end up doing the exact opposite. And the fact that they claim to be on the compassionate side is a slap in the face to everyone living paycheck to paycheck. Nevertheless, they have done nothing in places like Los Angeles but make it miserable for the middle class. And the fact that they believe more radical polices will fix this, while blaming landlords for reasons that will never be logical, is a whole other scandal.
