CBS News teased a glimpse on Tuesday night of the first TV network interview that the family of Sarah Milgrim gave since the fatal shooting of two Israeli embassy staffers outside a Jewish museum in Washington, D.C., last month.
Milgrim, who was just 26-years-old at the time, was one of the two embassy staffers killed in the unexpected attack by an anti-Israel protester outside the Capital Jewish Museum. Her boyfriend, Yaron Lischinsky, was also killed.
Milgrim’s parents, Robert and Nancy, and her older brother, Jacob, reflected on their grief in the interview and Sarah’s desire to secure peace in the Middle East.
“Usually, a parent tries to mold their child. Sarah molded us,” Robert Milgrim told CBS’ Jonah Kaplan in a clip. “She was a stronger person than I ever was. I told Nancy after this happened that I’m a different person now than before this happened, from learning so much about what Sarah did and her courage and her striving for peace.”
Other people have reflected on meeting Sarah Milgrim since the shooting, including Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin, who said he met her just two weeks before she died.
