But even with such a large selection, there are still some important Mario games missing from the service.
To celebrate Mar10 Day 2025, I took a look at the Mario games available on Nintendo Switch Online. I found that some key Mario games are still missing. These games include handheld versions of console classics and those that need special accessories like the SNES mouse, which could work better with future systems like the Nintendo Switch 2. Here are five Mario games I hope to see added to Nintendo Switch Online soon.
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (Game Boy Color)
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is a standout Mario game because it was one of the first to remake a classic for handheld play. This Game Boy Color version of the NES original added a world map and a challenge mode. It even unlocked The Lost Levels after getting enough points. Mario is Missing! is an unusual educational game where players help Luigi search for Mario in places like Paris and Cairo. Originally released for MS-DOS, it was later made for the SNES. Even though it’s not a typical Mario game, it’s an interesting part of Mario’s history that Nintendo should share. Adding Mario is Missing! to Nintendo Switch Online would give fans a fun look at this strange piece of Mario’s legacy.
Mario & Wario (Super Famicom)
Mario & Wario is one of the rarest Mario games because it was only released in Japan. It uses the Super Famicom’s mouse and is a puzzle game where players guide Mario, Peach, or Yoshi through levels. Since Nintendo has brought other Japan-only games to the global catalog, like Sutte Hakkun, Mario & Wario could be added too—especially if the Nintendo Switch 2 can emulate the mouse functionality.
Mario Pinball Land (Game Boy Advance)
Mario Pinball Land for the Game Boy Advance might not be considered a classic, but it’s still an interesting Mario game. Released in 2004, this pinball game offers a fun twist on Mario’s adventures. Although it wasn’t a huge hit, it’s still part of Mario’s history. Including games like Mario Pinball Land in the Nintendo Switch Online collection would make sure all parts of Mario’s past are remembered.
