Earlier this year, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) revealed that she had cancer.
Since then, we have heard very little from her camp.
That ended this week after Bill Clinton posted on X about Jackson Lee’s recovery.
Getting Better…
Lee broke the news several weeks ago, stating, “My doctors have confirmed my diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
“I am currently undergoing treatment to battle this disease that impacts tens of thousands of Americans every year.
“I am confident that my doctors have developed the best possible plan to target my specific disease.
“The road ahead will not be easy, but I stand in faith that God will strengthen me.”
Clinton updated everyone on X about her condition, stating, “Just spoke with my friend Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee as she battles pancreatic cancer.
“She’s doing well and remains the fighter we all know her to be, facing this challenge with incredible strength and determination.
“Join me in cheering her on and keeping her in our thoughts. Stay strong, Sheila!”
Jackson Lee responded, “Thank you again, Mr. President! I am not deterred one bit; the fight continues!”
Jackson Lee is 74, so it will be no easy feat to beat this disease.
She has missed considerable time from Congress due to her health issues, but she has vowed to be there for the important votes.
With the thin majority that Republicans have in the House right now, I am sure Speaker Johnson (R-LA) is encouraging her to stay home and take it easy to help ensure Republican legislation passes through the House.
