Ukrainian paratroopers thwarted a significant Russian assault in the Novomykhailivka region of Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, destroying seven Russian Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs) with troops on board.
Knewz.com has learned that the attack was carried out by the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The brigade reported the attack on Telegram, claiming that the occupying forces of the area opened a “real portal to hell” and “continue(d) to enter it in whole columns.”
“Tavriya paratroopers [the military faction to which the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade belongs], repelling Russian assaults, destroyed 7 BMPs [Russian fighting vehicles] with infantry at once,” the report mentioned.
Video footage shared by the brigade showed coordinated attacks carried out by Ukrainian drones and artillery, with specific overhead strikes targeting escaping Russian troops.
One of the Russian soldiers was seen trying to take refuge in what seemed to be an abandoned building, but subsequently falling prey to pinpointed Ukrainian attacks using a kamikaze drone and explosive charges.

“Some Russians turned out to be amazingly alive – and were able to take refuge in one of the houses. But the Ukrainian aviation that supports us has not left the invaders any chance. Exactly on target!” the Telegram report mentioned.
The footage also showed Ukrainian forces dropping explosive charges on Russian soldiers hiding in the vegetation.
The point-of-view from another Ukrainian aerial element showed a Russian infantry fighting vehicle blowing up in a huge explosion, with subsequent drone footage showing the armored vehicle up in flames.
According to the latest estimates shared by the Defense Ministry of Ukraine on X, Russia has lost a total of 15,566 armored combat vehicles in the Ukraine war so far.

“The Russians attempted another assault supported by tanks, armored vehicles, and assault groups. Ukrainian fighters linked the offensive by employing blocking minefields and anti-tank missile systems, halting the main armored forces and forcing the enemy to dismount,” Kyiv Post reported, citing information shared by the brigade.
“With the landing drive, [Ukrainian paratroopers] are assisted by our percussion operators, anti-tankers, and sappers, who have placed mines exactly where they need to be,” read the report shared by the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade of Ukraine.
A day before, Ukraine destroyed a Russian tank—possibly a T-72— using a First-Person-View drone in the Pokrovskyi sector of Ukraine, also near Donetsk.
Video footage captured by the drone, released via a previous Kyiv Post report, showed the FPV drone slamming into the tank, while another drone captured the moment of impact and the tank going up in flames.

The FPV drone responsible for the attack belonged to the “Mosquitoes” strike group, part of the “Brodyaga” reconnaissance-strike unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The commander of the crew that destroyed the Russian tank is a soldier with the call sign “Sil,” meaning Salt. He elaborated on the circumstances of the attack in a statement via Kyiv Post:
“The occupiers conducted another assault with the support of tanks and other armored vehicles… The Russian tank tried to fire at the positions of the Ukrainian military but was destroyed with the help of an FPV drone.”
Dmytro Lysenko, a drone pilot with the 109th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, said in a statement to Kyiv Post at the time that while Russia fires artillery shells and other munitions at them, the drones at Ukraine’s disposal are a force to be reckoned with.
“A shell can fly and miss, and that’s it. But a drone pilot aims and will be very accurate when they drop an explosive,” Lysenko told the outlet.
Ukraine has been using FPV drones to take down Russian troops as well, as Special Ops reported that they took out over a dozen Russian soldiers in a previous mission using the same.
