There are mixed reports over whether Biden will stay in the 2024 race following his disastrous debate performance against Trump.
Biden’s entire family, however, have urged him to “keep fighting.”
The president’s son Hunter was surprisingly the most vocal in advocating for his father.
The New York Post, as outlined by Daily Mail, reported that Hunter has become the most adamant family member insisting his father remain in the race.
Apparently Hunter wants America to see Biden as he does: “scrappy and in command of the facts.”
Sources had reportedly said the president would discuss if he would stay on the November ticket during his retreat at Camp David over the weekend; an event that had been on the calendar before the debate.
The White House and campaign attribute Biden’s low and sometimes hard-to-understand speaking voice to a “cold.”
Some close to Biden have even claimed this is now his typical day-to-day demeanor.
Following Biden’s poor debate a plethora of Democrats in the media sounded the alarm over the president remaining as the party’s nominee, with a vast chorus of them signaling him being done.
This sentiment has been echoed by various outlets over the past few days, with many viewing Biden’s wife Jill as the key influencer in the president’s unwillingness to drop out.
A poll released Sunday revealed 72 percent of voters don’t think Biden has the cognitive faculties for another term in office.
This is a seven percent increase from the same poll taken earlier in June before the debate, per Daily Mail.
The outlet said the rest of the Biden family is trying to be supportive, exploring ways to assist if the president continues his campaign.
Some suggestions included having the president’s grandchildren “talk with influencers on social media.”
CNN, citing an adviser, reported that the family overall gave Biden their “unequivocal support.”
Biden appears to be steadfast in the race, with Jill Biden firmly by his side.
This comes despite increasing pressure from Democrats for Biden to reconsider his political future after a disastrous debate performance.
Jill acknowledged the debate’s reception but affirmed the campaign would continue when speaking to wealthy donors in New York on Friday night, Daily Mail highlighted.
The first lady went viral after childishly praising her husband’s debate performance at an afterparty for the event.
“Joe, you did such a great job! You answered every question, you knew all the facts!” she said in a now viral clip.
Jill took heat after it was reported she had promised donors Biden was “prepared” ahead of his disastrous first debate against Trump.
Her ex-husband criticized her for supporting the president especially after his poor debate performance.
“The Dr. Jill Biden who I’ve seen on TV in the last five years is not the same person I married or that I recognize in any way,” Bill Stevenson, who was married to Jill from 1970-1975, said on Sunday.
“She’s matriculated into a completely different woman.”
“I just don’t understand why she is so adamant about defending him and keeping him in the race since it appears that he’s struggling,” he added following the bizarre praise she gave her husband following the debate, Resist the Mainstream reported.
Multiple officials in countries like Poland, Germany and Slovenia have also expressed concerns about the 81-year-old president’s age and his ability to serve another four years, echoing concerns from US Democrats.
One member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany said, “ … The Democrats must now change course. And Germany must prepare itself as quickly as possible for a future that is uncertain in terms of security policy.”
