The Biden campaign has taken proactive steps to equip supporters with rebuttals to criticism following the president’s disastrous debate performance on Thursday.
The campaign acknowledges the scrutiny Biden faced and offers guidance on how to handle skeptical inquiries, an email addressed to supporters revealed.
It encourages supporters to forcefully push back against those calling on the president to drop out of the race, adding that such critics are part of the “bedwetting brigade.”
“If you’re like me, you’re getting lots of texts or calls from folks about the state of the race after Thursday,” the email obtained by Fox News read.
“Maybe it was your panicked aunt, your MAGA uncle, or some self-important podcasters. It’s a tough position to be in, so I thought it might be helpful to send you a few responses.”
Though the email acknowledged Biden’s showing in the debate “started rough,” it quickly pivots to blast Trump, stating voters got to see “what a threat” he is to the country.
It argued that joining the chorus of pushing Biden to drop out of the race is “the best possible way for Donald Trump to win and us to lose.”
It continued by stating Biden dropping out “would lead to weeks of chaos” including “internal foodfighting” and “a bunch of candidates who limp into a brutal floor fight at the convention.”
“Joe Biden is going to be the Democratic nominee, period. End of story. Voters voted. He won overwhelmingly,” it read in another part.
“All while Donald Trump has time to speak to American voters uncontested,” the email continued, suggesting again that having the party seek a new candidate–especially at this time in the race–would be a positive for Republicans.
“All of that would be in service of a nominee who would go into a general election in the weakest possible position with zero dollars in their bank account. You want a highway to losing? It’s that.”
On Monday Resist the Mainstream reported that Biden’s family has urged the 81-year-old to “keep fighting.”
This push to win came after the Biden family met together at Camp David as part of a retreat that had been established before the debate.
The president’s son Hunter was surprisingly the most vocal in advocating for his father during this getaway.
Democrats sounded the alarm on maintaining Biden as the party’s candidate against Trump following the president’s terrible debate performance on Thursday.
CNN’s John King called the debate “game-changing” shortly after it was over. “There is a deep, a wide and a very aggressive panic in the Democratic Party,” he continued.
“It started minutes into the debate and it continues right now,” he said, as highlighted by Fox.
“It involves party strategists, it involves elected officials, it involves fundraisers. And they‘re having conversations about the president’s performance, which they think was dismal, which they think will hurt other people down the party in the ticket, and they‘re having conversations about what they should do about it.”
Biden’s wife Jill was ripped for continuing to support her husband, with some political experts and pundits dubbing her the key influencer in the president’s unwillingness to drop out.
One moment that captured viral attention was when Jill said to her husband during an after event Thursday night: “Joe, you did such a great job!”
“You answered every question, you knew all the facts!” she said in the bizarre clip.
Her ex-husband Bill Stevenson, who was married to Jill from 1970-1975, criticized her for supporting the president especially after his poor debate performance.
“The Dr. Jill Biden who I’ve seen on TV in the last five years is not the same person I married or that I recognize in any way,” he said, as reported by Resist the Mainstream.
“She’s matriculated into a completely different woman.”
“I just don’t understand why she is so adamant about defending him and keeping him in the race since it appears that he’s struggling,” he added following the praise she gave her husband following the debate.
