Former President Donald Trump is reportedly being encouraged to announce his vice presidential pick this week ahead of Thursday’s presidential debate.
Trump could announce his vice presidential pick as early as this week, according to an NBC News report citing four people “familiar with the situation” who requested to speak anonymously.
Trump has said publicly that he will announce his vice presidential choice shortly before or at the Republican National Convention on July 15-18. However, the report said “high-level discussions” have taken place recently about moving up Trump’s announcement and “making a splash sooner.”
The topic of Trump’s running mate has heated up as both President Joe Biden and Trump prepare for Thursday night’s CNN presidential debate.
The former president said he has decided on his VP and they will “most likely” be at Thursday’s debate against President Joe Biden.
Trump senior adviser Chris LaCivita appeared to mock the report with a post on X, writing how it was “such an amazing scoop!”
