LAS VEGAS, NV – A suspect identified as Eric Adams, 47, who was responsible for a deadly mass shooting that resulted in five fatalities and left a 13-year-old girl critically injured, died by suicide, North Las Vegas Police confirmed. The incident took place at an apartment complex near the intersection of Commerce Street and Lone Mountain Road on Monday, June 24.
The tragic sequence of events began Monday evening when law enforcement was dispatched to the scene following reports of multiple gunshot victims. Upon arrival, officers found four women and a man deceased from gunshot wounds. The ages of the women ranged from their early 40s to late 50s, and the man was in his early 20s. A 13-year-old girl, also wounded in the attack, was rushed to University Medical Center in critical condition.
Officers extended their search upon receiving information that there could be more victims. The search led to discovering the additional bodies of the younger women and the man.
Eric Adams, the suspected gunman, evaded the police immediately after the shootings. A rigorous overnight manhunt ensued, with Adams described by authorities as “armed and dangerous.” However, it was not until the following morning that police located Adams at a business on Lake Mead Boulevard, near M.L.K. Boulevard.
Despite law enforcement’s efforts to apprehend him peacefully, Adams fled to the backyard of a nearby residence. When police commanded him to drop his weapon, Adams instead turned his gun on himself, committing suicide. He was declared dead at the scene.
The North Las Vegas Police Department stated that Adams’ shooting spree appears to be an “isolated incident.” This incident has left the community shocked and mourning the abrupt and tragic loss of lives.
Police are still investigating the motives behind Adams’ actions.
Meanwhile, local authorities and community leaders are addressing public safety concerns and providing support to affected families and the community during this challenging time.
