According to a Harvard-Harris poll, most people think Democrats are using the legal system to politically damage President Trump. A majority or 57% of Democrats think lawfare is being used against him while 43% think the proceedings are fair and not political. Most or 83% of Republicans think the legal system and government are trying to harm Trump while 31% of Dems and 57% of independents feel the same.
Lawfare used to harm
On the flip side, 69% of Democrats, 17% of Republicans, and 43% of independents think the trials are fair and apolitical. The poll that featured 1,961 registered voters was asked:
“Do you think the legal prosecutions of Donald Trump are fair and unrelated to politics, or do you think the Democrats today are engaged in lawfare — a campaign using the government and the legal system in biased ways to take out political opponents?” Another nearly identical question was asked that yielded almost the same results.
“Do you think the prosecutions of Donald Trump are fair and unbiased, or are they politically motivated?” Over half or 56% said the prosecutions are politically motivated. Less than half or 44% thought the proceedings were fair.

Lawfare on purpose
Over half thought the proceedings should be moved to a more fair area. Most or 58% thought “Trump’s trials in the heavily Democratic jurisdictions should be moved to avoid real or perceived bias.”
Democrats feel the same way to the tune of 40%. Many Republicans or 77% and 58% of Independents also think the trials should be moved.
Over half or 60% of Democrats actually think jurisdiction doesn’t matter, that it’s “possible to have an unbiased legal process in those heavy Democratic jurisdictions.” But those Democrats are part of a minority, or 42%, that believe this.
Lawfare to keep Trump down
This poll showed the two men neck and neck in the event Trump is hypothetically convicted. Trump leads Biden 52-48 in the hypothetical situation of being convicted in the January 6 case.
The poll was conducted very recently, on April 24-25. The survey also showed these proceedings are actually not helping Democrats the way they’d hoped. The results are split.
Breitbart reported,
If Trump’s convicted by a jury of crimes “related to his handling of classified presidential documents,” voters are split 50-50 Trump and Biden. There is a consistent 50-50 split for independents as well.
If Trump is convicted by a jury for RICO in “trying to influence the 2020 election results on Georgia,” voters are again split 50-50 between Trump and Biden. Independents lean Biden 51 to Trump’s 49 percent support.
And finally, if Trump is convicted by a jury for “inciting the Capitol riots of January 6,” voters lean Trump, 52 percent to Biden’s 48 percent. Independents also side with Trump in that scenario by doubt digits — 55 percent to Biden’s 45 percent”.
