WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange will apparently be free soon, and all he has to do is plead guilty to a felony charge in a deal with America’s Justice Department.
By pleading guilty to the charge, Assange will be allowed to walk free and essentially end a long-running legal saga that has been nothing short of epic.
The case has spanned multiple years, continents, and classified documents.
“WikiLeaks published groundbreaking stories of government corruption and human rights abuses, holding the powerful accountable for their actions. As editor-in-chief, Julian paid severely for these principles, and for the people’s right to know,” WikiLeaks current team posted on social media.
Assange is expected to return to his home country of Australia after his plea and sentencing, scheduled for June 26.
Julian Assange has been hailed as a hero by many for standing up for the public against a corrupt government.
Assange has also been labelled a villain by those who point to allegations of rape against him. Julian Assange has completely denied the rape allegations.
