How can states prevent illegal migrants from voting in the 2024 election? America First Legal (AFL) has a plan.
A major reason, if not the main reason, that Democrats are very happy to continue and exacerbate Biden’s massive border crisis is because illegal aliens could permanently rig Congress and the Electoral College in their favor. With Biden increasingly unpopular even among traditionally left-leaning voting groups, Democrats are likely to turn to migrants for illegal but election-impacting votes. Republicans need to take action at the state level to prevent such fraud as much as possible.
AFL announced June 24 that it had “sent a letter to the chief election official of all fifty States, with a copy to each Governor and Attorney General explaining how they can use two key existing federal laws to obtain information from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security about the citizenship or immigration status of any individual for ‘any purpose authorized by law.’ Ensuring the integrity of voter rolls and investigating whether to remove potentially ineligible voters from voter rolls is undoubtedly a ‘purpose authorized by law,’ and therefore, these laws can serve a vital function in providing States and localities with the information that they need to prevent aliens from voting.”
Thanks to federal machinations which AFL explained in its announcement, anyone can register to vote using a certain form without proof of citizenship. But AFL has suggestions based on two federal statues to purge illegal voters anyway. Specifically, 8 U.S.C. § 1373(c) requires the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to provide the requested information if receiving a state inquiry, and 8 U.S.C. § 1644 does not allow the banning or prohibiting of such requests and responses. That means DHS is required to verify if an individual is a citizen, and it cannot restrict or prohibit the sharing of that information.
Democrats no doubt have many insidious plans to rig the 2024 election, but Republicans at the state level can fight back and help secure our election.
