The Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston has faced a lot of backlash lately after it was revealed that doctors were performing sex changes on minors despite the surgery being banned in the Lone Star State. Vanessa Sivadge, the nurse who helped shut down the program, gave specific details on what occurred behind the scenes.
Sivadge, who is employed with the hospital, noticed that the children in the sex-change clinic were getting worse beginning in 2021 City Journal’s Christopher F. Rufo reported.
“Many of them had previous ER visits for attempted suicide, many of them are autistic, many of them are depressed and anxious, and that’s really devastating because it’s really clear there’s something else going on in addition to having confusion about their sexual identity,” she said.
The 31-year-old also reported that doctors would manipulate the parents into giving their children gender-affirming care. Without it, they were told that their children would commit suicide without it. Doctors also withheld information about the long-term side effects.
The hospital would then bill Medicaid for the medications and surgeries, which is prohibited in Texas.
Sivadge told the New York Post that the hospital believed that it was “above the law” by stealing money from the government and providing child-sex surgeries in a state where it is illegal.
As all of the allegations piled up against the hospital, FBI special agents Paul Nixon and David McBride showed up at Sivadge’s residence. Instead of being concerned about the hospital’s unsettling and illegal practices, the agents focused on her.
The agents informed her that they were there because of her “views on transgender medicine” and that she was being investigated for violating HIPPA privacy laws.
The agents inquired about Dr. Eithan Haim, the initial source who blew the whistle on the hospital’s malpractice, and wanted her assistance in locating him. They then used intimidation tactics, stating that she would not be safe at work if she did not cooperate with them.
“They said, ‘We would like your help in finding him’ and ‘We would like you to help us expose him’ and ‘If you don’t do that, we will make your life very difficult,’” she said.
Sivadge told Rufo that the FBI’s presence was meant to send a message, stating that doctors have made medicine a political issue instead of focusing on the patients.
“These doctors are driven by a political agenda, like an ideological agenda,” she said, “and I truly believe that they think that they’re doing the right thing.”
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced that his office is currently investigating the allegations against the hospital, something that most would assume the FBI would have done.
Despite it all, Sivadge said that she will not stop fighting to protect children against the transgender agenda.
“My faith and my gut, just knowing right from wrong, compels me,” she said. “I was born for this. I have no doubt this is what I am supposed to do.”
