Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.
There was an old Florida backwoods proverb that I first saw in Marjorie Kennon Rawling’s classic novel, “The Yearling.” It went like this.
“A black eye’ll quiet down a heap quicker than an empty belly!”
These somewhat rustic words of wit may hint at an answer to our open borders issue. True, there will be opponents. American Socialists and Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau will do everything within their power to throw up roadblocks. But the plan is both sound and practical. It exemplifies the age-old sales axiom: “Wherever there is a problem, there is an opportunity.”
The Plan
America has likely 15 million migrants who have illegally entered the country. Many have criminal records and are wanted in their home countries. The Biden Administration’s open border policy has proven to be a magnet for these migrants. Critics contend that we know nothing of these people. Some come from far-away countries. Most do not have use of the English language. The present fear is that they will overtax the already fragile entitlement programs. Not to mention the infrastructure, including schools and housing.
Equally disquieting is the number of single males between 20 and 40 who have come in unaccompanied by wives and children.
Republican presidential candidate, Donald J. Trump has included a proposal for mass deportation, if he wins the election this November. Trump has not spoken of separating families, which is the Democrat opposition’s frequent accusation. In separating families from single men, the solution takes on a different dimension.
Assuming the Trump Administration follows through with the deportation of families while detaining single men, the United States suddenly acquires a vast labor pool. This labor pool would be put to good use building an extensive railroad system throughout the United States and Canada. In the end, the Gulf Coast would be connected to Kachemak Bay, Alaska.

Constructing the ‘Trunkline.”
It would take years to finish such a project. Yet with a prison labor force that would include millions of able-bodied young men, it might go faster than first thought. The first leg of the rail line would begin in Dawson Creek, British Columbia and conclude at Homer, Alaska. More than half of the line would be in Canadian territory. Thanks to the 1941 ALCAN agreement, the U.S. would not need Canadian permission, provided the line is constructed within “250 meters” of the existing Alaska Highway. It would be built totally at America’s expense. Getting the Canadians to complete the railroad through Alberta to the Montana border might be problematic, but not impossible.
The argument in favor of the railroad is simple. It makes shipping agricultural products from the American Midwest and Canada’s prairie provinces affordable. The railroad system would cross through some of the continent’s most forbidding terrain to ice free Kachemak Bay where Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Filipino barges would await. “Labor Cost” has been the primary deterrent up until now. No more! These Migrants would have a chance to pay their debt to the American people, for uninvited entry.
Expanding North America’s Agricultural Might
There is a lot of land in both the United States and Canada that is yet to be utilized due to lack of a nearby market. There are a lot of Asian countries that would buy American and Canadian Corn, Wheat, Rye, Oats, Barley, Beans, Beef and Pork. It’s simply a matter of getting these products to them affordably. This would do it. Within a few short years Homer, Alaska’s docks would be crowded with vessels paying consistent cash for our North American bounty.
Access to abundant food brings with it stability. This concept of “eliminating hunger on the planet,” runs contrary to Agenda 2030 and the concept of sustainability. This is why most Americans and Canadians will heartily endorse the idea.
America’s New Inspiration
Creating additional food to counter the Marxist plan of population reduction has a magical quality that reaches deep into the true essence of American patriotism. A spokesperson is needed but that person may be at hand in possible Trump cabinet pick, Kristi Noem. Noem would be a highly qualified choice for Secretary of Agriculture. She is also charismatic and photogenic. Hosting a weekly program dubbed, “Kristi’s Gardening Tips” would tell the country and the world “how cool” gardening is!
” In truth, “photogenic” is an understatement. Kristi Noem is a starkly beautiful woman. Her program could become as popular as “The Apprentice.” Best of all, home gardening would experience a dramatic increase!
Democrats Have a Different Plan
Increasing the food supply for Asia, including increased consumption of animal protein runs contrary to Democrat plans. Last summer, Vice President, Kamala Harris inadvertently unveiled her party’s vision. It was eerily reminiscent of Mao’s, “The Great Leap Forward,” when the Communist Government forced peasants to relocate to cities. Taking place between 1958 and 1962, an estimated 55-60 million Chinese starved to death.
