CV NEWS FEED // The executive director of two Michigan pregnancy resource centers recently discovered that artificial intelligence can efficiently spread information about the centers to a wider audience and younger generations, saving babies’ lives.
Stephanie Wellwood told Pregnancy Help News that she realized the benefits of using artificial intelligence (AI) in April after attending the Heartbeat International Conference.
“The biggest WOW moment for me as a new director was artificial intelligence, and how we can use it for good,” Wellwood said. “For me that was new and kind of scary.”
She added:
But yet, attending the break-out session I went to was something that was challenging, and I wanted to go back and learn more about artificial intelligence and how we can use that at our center, whether that’s with donors or seeing how we can reach [pregnant women] more effectively.”
Wellwood is the executive director of the Alpha Care Center, which has two branches in Lowell and Lake Odessa, Michigan. Through newsletters and social media marketing, the pregnancy resource centers can provide information to pregnant women and the communities around them.
AI can help write and put together the newsletters, assist with social media marketing, and write thank-you letters, Wellwood said. With the help of a new marketing coordinator, Alpha Care Center hopes to use social media and AI to better reach Gen Z-ers.
“We have to heavily consider where we’re putting things out,” Wellwood added. “Who is our target audience and are we really reaching our target audience?”
The two locations of Alpha Care Center provide medical care and resources for pregnant women, including pregnancy testing, some ultrasounds, STD testing, support, referrals, and more. According to Pregnancy Help News, the two clinics served over 130 clients in 2023, while they served more than 60 in the first quarter of 2024 alone.
The clinics additionally provide a pro-life presence in a pro-abortion state, as Michigan law currently allows abortion throughout a woman’s entire pregnancy.
