I have always laughed at the narrative that Biden opening up our borders is a way for him to win over Hispanic communities.
And I am not saying that is not what Biden or Democrats believe.
I am just saying they are getting it all wrong, and polling proves it.
Trump Can Do It
When I grew up, I lived in a neighborhood that became overwhelmingly Hispanic before we moved.
These were all legal immigrants who came to this country to find jobs and work hard, and they did just that.
They were proud of their journey and more than anything else, they were proud that they did it the right way.
Now I live in Texas, and I know far more Hispanic people than I did back east, but the people who have come to this country legally are the same as those I knew when I was a kid, with one exception… they all hate illegal immigration.
There is good reason for that, too…
Coming to this country legally can be expensive and take considerable time, so the fact Biden is giving people a free pass is not endearing Hispanics to Biden, it is driving them away.
Polling has always shown this to be true, and it continues with the current presidential race.
Even with Trump’s hardline stance on immigration, 41% of Hispanic voters prefer Trump to Biden (38%) on immigration, with 16% undecided.
For non-Hispanic voters, it is Trump 49-34-14, respectively.
Arturo Garino, who was previously mayor of Nogales, AZ, tried to explain, stating, “I don’t think what this administration is doing it right — letting all these people just come across.
“I’m a Democrat, and I’m pretty p***ed off.”
When Democrats start to say that the United States cannot sustain Biden’s immigration agenda, you know it’s a problem.
We have never seen immigration take center stage in an election, no matter how much we have tried in the past.
Rest assured, this time, it will be top of mind for voters on both sides when they head to the voting booths in November.
